I am a female, a slightly above average hobby jogger. I am not interested in crockpot recipes, pinterest, Kara Gaucher, or Oiselle. I am, however, fascinated with the world of competitive running and that's why I come here. That being said, the snarky, hostile comments get very tiring very quickly and often makes me depressed about mankind in general.
Don't get too depressed as I personally know a couple of snarky, hostile comment makers and 2 out of 3 of them are actually very supportive of women and running in general (don't ask about the third).
I think because they were once competitive, dealing with hobby joggers must build up a certain level of frustration and the message board is really the only cathartic release available to them.
I know if someone could hear my thoughts in reaction to idiot drivers they would think there is no hope for humankind when, in reality, I'm just letting off a little steam. That way, when I get home, I'm all hugs and kisses.
Go ahead, try it, let some idiot poster have it, you'll feel better and contribute to the message board body of work at the same time.
