There hasn't been any evidence this year that Berian was in better shape than 1:44 and in a race with erratic splits like that you can't expect to run your fastest.

How many 800m runners coached by Mackey qualified for Rio? Certainly on the men's side, they looked completely out of their league in Eugene. Why in the works would Berian leave a coach that gave him a chance and helped him to a world indoor championship? Seriously?
At the 2015 US trials, 2 of his runners (Symmonds and Loxsom) qualified for Beijing. I don't see why Berian couldn't excel under Mackey's guidance. I agree with you though, I don't think Berian should throw the baby out with the bath water, but obviously something has to change, and I'm guessing it's just his aerobic system that needs working on. No surprise that all 3 of the medalists this year were aerobic beasts, especially Mak and Murphy (2 800/1500 guys).

Boris ran well enough to get to the final. He will always be an olympian and like others it becomes a learning experience. He did not fail, he finished poorly but its not the end of the world as you state "failure". His fitness is there, he didn't respond when others where rolling. He can be coached.
He is our number two american for 800 meters and depending on the post olympic games racing season he will end up top ten in the world ranked.
The only failure here is your non sensical post.
Read the predictions by you American loving losers. You had Boris on the podium.
Ask him if he is happy with his result? Answer...no
Hmm, Coach G back peddles here. American losers, how many finalists did your home country have in the final?
Sure Boris had his supporters why not, but I would say most here on this site had DAVID wearing the gold.
How did Boris respond from his result ,like a young champion, his post race comments: I'm young, I got plenty of time,I've got some fight.
Yes Boris you do and with anything when you don't have your best day as in this case you get to race another.

I think most of us remember who won the men's 800m bronze 24 years ago.
Star, you are deluded.

Yeah, because Mackey got so many runners on the team this year.
He should keep going with what has worked, and yes Carlos has worked for him, obviously.

What is the most stupid running advice you've ever heard?🤣(It can be funny)
Are Asics, Saucony, and New Balance envious of Brooks, Hoka ,and On?
