Any early predictions or thoughts on the East Region this fall for both teams and individuals?
Any early predictions or thoughts on the East Region this fall for both teams and individuals?
Its the weakest region in the country. No one cares. It's just an entire region fighting to see who is going to finish in the bottom 15% at nationals....bump
I'm from the midwest and I care about the east just like I'm sure there are runners and coaches in the east that care about our sport.
I like what Robert's Wesleyan is doing. I'll take them on both the men's and women's side.
Seriously.... Roberts look at the actual # and times since their first year in DII they are on the decline they had one good season with the women and have regressed significantly. Take the time to look at the actual times plot them out and do it for the distance runners in track... its not good.
As someone noted weakest region in the country so they win... but I don't see it ... I think they had that proverbial one hit wonder and are just going to be average from here on out.
Perhaps. However, I believe they really focus on the long term aerobic development of their athletes, so I expect to see dividends on those investments this fall - - - particularly with a few of the incoming juniors on the women's team. We will see.
Franklin PIERCE!!!!
UMasholes Lowell - now d1
Leakey Kipkosgei from AIC will likely defend his Regional title.
Stonehill men and women will both make it to Nationals- they will place no worse than 3rd each as per usual.

He didn't win last year.....
Someone posted an Ne-10 thread a while ago about this coming year
"Last year on the guys side, AIC Bentley and Stonehill made it to Nattys. 2 out of these 3 teams still look really strong coming into this year.
AIC will return a lot of good runners that had great track seasons. Leakey seems to be their #1 after his year on the track. Mitch Byrne, Hume and Mehretu are all strong runners as well. Not sure what happened to Chirchir during the track season but if he is healthy they seem virtually unbeatable.
Bentley pulled off a repeat of 2012 last year; under performed at NE-10's and over performed at Regionals. They return 5 of their top 7 which bodes well if they can stay healthy. They seemingly will look to Cadorette and Haas to lead the team. Frosh Murphy had a good cross season last year and Higgins was their 2nd best 5k runner without being in their top 7 last year.
Stonehill will lose Massey and Gordon, 2 of their top 3, but will their younger guys will look to step up. Santo had some good 10k's that will translate to cross country. Taxter, Dowd and Carney all had good freshmen campaigns and will give Stonehill a good core but they will be young.
Franklin Pierce will have Minors back after a disappointing regionals race but great track seasons. I know that he was limited running/racing this spring so hopefully he'll be back to full strength. They will also have Holmes and Smith who can both place high in the conference/region. However, I'm not sure what they have to offer after those three, maybe a good recruiting class will put them in the mix.
Some other teams in the conference like Adelphi (Grady, Velasquez) and SNHU (Nacho, McLaren) will have a few guys in the mix but not sure what they can do as a team. My picks for the conference would be:
Teams:
1. AIC
2. Bentley
3. Stonehill
Individuals:
1. Leakey - AIC
2. Byrne - AIC
3. Nacho - SNHU
4. MGrady -Adelphi
5. Santo - Stonehill"
Obviously a bit different once you throw a team like RW in the mix but nevertheless

You're absolutely right- he took second to teammate Chirchir. My apologies, getting old sucks!
After being leaps and bounds ahead of the rest of AIC's distance squad on the track, I assumed he was top dog year-around!
In any case, I expect he should win his first XC regional title this Fall.
Preview meet at Stonehill today.
Saw some good pack running. Still early. No fp? SURPRISING.
They're down at Mt. St. Mary's, no surprise that they skipped Stonehill. That course is dead flat and is just a couple loops. Nothing that's gonna jump out and surprise you.
surprised that they didn't want to show up show the other NE-10 teams who their daddies are
Anyone going to challenge Stonehill on the women's side? Assumption looks to be decent, not a ton of depth though. Any East Coast Conference teams? Roberts seems to be a bit weaker than usual. Daemen or STAC? Both have some good girls but not much depth - similar to Assumption.
Eh, if you look at the track times from Roberts it never seems like a national caliber XC team...yet the women are 2/2 and the men are 1/2.
I wouldn't count them as favorites or anything, but it also seems silly to count them out.
