I thought Eugene was Track central USA
The stands are empty
Daaaaaamnnn! There's nobody there!
Yet the stands would be filled in some rando Belgian small town. Track is dead in the US.

What is this guy looking at: http://imgur.com/a/tNnfO
Split Screen! What an innovation!!!!!!!!
A split screen at a track meet!!! It is possible after all.
Also i thought there were supposed to be rabbits for the distance races? Doesnt look like the steeple has any.
OMG, they are using a split screen. It IS POSSIBLE! Next thing I hear, we will put a man on the moon, I just know it!

I would have thought at Eugene they would have a bigger crowd. Track town USA cannot be happy with the lack of people in the stands
Again, not a stellar crowd but way more than if they held it here in NYC. How about the split screen!!
Commentating is pretty good! PiP as well! Wow!
Why is the guy looking at the women's asses
Stop yer b*tching. It's good coverage showing a distance race and TJ at the same time with a running clock and decent commentary. What the heck else do you want?!
That dude knows what's up. Steeplers are HOT!

Kudos to ESPN for the split screen. That is huge.
Would love if we got the metric marks for field events too. As a collegiate coach, the English marks mean literally nothing to me.
I like that the english announcer is making an effort to try and give them, but that has always been annoying about american broadcasts for me. They did give the opening PV height in metric though, which was nice.

No one is sitting on the sunny East Stands.
Those who are there are in the shade in the West Stands.
Come on there is nobody in either stands. We get more fans for our HS county meet
Odd to see empty stands at Hayward. It's kinda like their all-comers meets.
Like the teams a lot, but as a pretty big fan of T&F, I know most athlete sponsors.
It would be cool to see Nike vs Brooks vs NB vs Adidas vs other as teams, not cities. I'm sure sponsors would like that more as well.
Wow, not sure I have ever seen this before: a distance race televised in its entirety on a US network, no cutting away to commercial!
Teams comprised by shoe company sponsorship would be far too one sided.
Agreed. Nike would destroy everyone. They would essentially sweep everything on the men's side and everything except distance events on the women's side. Brooks...LOL.

Which would be family members.
give 'em a break, it's a first time event during commute hours. Going to take some time to build it up.
you can still tell that the fans who are there are fully engaged and into even the field events.
During commute hours? Yea Eugene has such a massive commute traffic issue. It's as bad as the Long island Expressway
THAT is why the stands are empty
It would be cool to have 4 teams from 4 cities with a meet in each city. Philly has UPenn, Sacramento has a great stadium, Drake has a good stadium, and then maybe a southern city as well, like Lawrence or Arkansas.
Also, we need city specific singlets, maybe with names on the back and their sponsor's logo on the front.

Also, I feel like we've identified that along with some team component, there needs to be a shift away from shoe companies as sole sponsors. Like any other major sport, owners and managers of teams would make a big difference. I don't like Nike's ethos but I admire the heck out of them for propping up the sport in the US. We need more help financially as a sport, help that isn't Nike. Managers of teams would create a better atmosphere. I'm really interested to see where this goes over the next 2 years.
Also, people just want teams to root for. Look at the EPL's success in the US. People are devoted to teams from cities they've never been to. Fans just want a team to rally behind, even if it's 4 random US cities.
