I just watched the finals of the womens 1500m for the Olympic trails. Alex Efraimson is such a little thug. She gets boxed in right before the bell lap, and instead of waiting for an opening, hops in from of 2 girls almost causing them to fall, she literally pushed one girl off the track, I think the girl that got pushed off, got back on the track and got 4th, If she kept her momentum who knows what would have happened. She almost tripped Brenda twice, wtf.

Why did the other girls let Alexa Efraimson get away with that!?

No time to be polite and ask for an opening. Other girls should have grown some bush and pushed back.
-
Watch the race again. The woman who got knocked off the track was not even in the picture when they finished. I do feel bad for her as she was running smart right behind the leaders all the way until Efraimson went Rambo.
-
that was a wack and a half by alexa e
hard to see why efraimson got so mad - looks like she was getting hit and decided to make some room for herself pronto.
if someone had fallen maybe she woulda been penalized. -
Also looks like she intentionally whacked Brenda in the face.
-
She's the distance runner you want in a bar fight
-
This was hashed to death already. Watch Uceny's feet as she cuts from the outside of lane 2 to the inside of lane 2, causing the squeeze that pushed BMart into Alexa who gets pushed into Johnson.
Alexa was just stating upright as Uceny caused the problem. Uceny ran the whole race like a drunken thug. -

That video is pretty amazing. If you click on the gear button in the lower right, you can watch it in in slow mo (.25 speed). I don't know if I've every seen anythng like that. She appears to just assault Martinez with her right elbow.
Looks like a blatant DQ and I never say that. Am I missing something?
I watched it to see if perhaps Martinez had started to cut in before the turn and she did not. -
Well she didn't medal in Poland and got beat by Aragon so there's that.
-
I watched it a couple times again including on a big screen in slo mo. I think she got twisted up and was trying to keep herself up. I think it was a quick natural reaction and instincts more than anything else.
-
Where should Alexa base herself for the next Olympic period? Training as a one woman team has gotten her right to the cusp of relevance but there is a clear step yet to take for this young talent.

I've stopped reporting threads. I'm not going to help the moderators when they're on crack. (Btw, reinstate Annoyed as pie's thread which once again has been deleted for no reason.) -
Yes, it looks like Uceny cutting in when she didn't have a stride caused Brenda to drift inward and squeeze Efraimson, who then started flailing with both arms. Instead of avoiding contact with Uceny, Brenda should have defended her part of the lane and pushed. She's not great tactically at 1500. Bad move by Uceny as well. Cutting in like that when there's no room means you often get clipped from behind -- instant fall.

Uceny was looking for an excuse to fall.
Good on Alexa for defending her space. -
Uceny advances on the outside and starts cutting in. BMart looks down at Uceny's feet to avoid clipping her and moves a few inches inwards in the process. Efraimson sees that she's about to be all boxed in, advances with a couple of giant leaps, sends her elbow into BMart's shoulder, loses balance and grabs the arm of the chick in white. Chick in white stumbles.
Obvious DQ. -

Totally agree. Such a great thread. -
Never wise to mess with 'roid rage or that time of the month.

Uceny + Martinez + foot race = sh*tshow
They are all over the place.

Watch Morgan Uceny's lane position carefully starting at about 3:00 youtube time(approx 2:55 race clock). She comes pretty hard in from the right, squeezing Martinez toward Efraimson. Efraimson reacts with wild elbow to Martinez in the chest, and also forces Johnson off the track at the same time.
Hate to say it, but watching Morgan veer all over the track in this race made me lose my sympathy for her previous falls, and made me think she brings it on herself with her erratic running.
Also, Efraimson needs to cool down. That was uncalled for; hope she apologized after the race. -
She was warmed up from running over Rachel Schneider in the first round.
Felt like Schneider was in good shape going into it, so I focused in on her and watch the whole thing unfold as Efraimson ran her over from the back, literally failing on top of her after changing gears and immediately clipping Schneider without looking where she was going.
Listen to Efraimson, think it speaks volumes when you hear what she thought of when it happened: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVI6MJGgti4
Really seemed like everyone in the 800/1500 were so focused on themselves that they never respected their spacing around others. It's how you have to be at the trials sure, but at what cost? Quality of some races was dropped because of stuff like this.
