Dr Ferrari said that EPO could make a mule into a thoroughbred, and it clearly did. The argument of it being a level playing field as they were all at it, is deeply flawed. Lance's programme was the most sophisticated and advanced in the peloton. Also not everyone will respond in the same way to PEDs, some will be super responders as with the case of Lance. That is just basic physiology. Lances VO2max is 73. That would place him at best a domestique within a very poor team in the current peloton.

You need to spend an afternoon with a textbook and some relatively new research articles and then come back.

There wasn't a single mountain stage where a GC rider broke everyone else and got away by themselves. That to me means that it was a boring Tour de France.

Ok Froome was the best rider, but he just rode in the front group and waited for the others to have a bad day. Really I guess the tour was over as a competition when Contador crashed, there is no way a fit Contador would have allowed the race to runfold as it did.

I enjoyed the sprints, and bumpy stages - Cavendish and Sagan were great. The GC guys seem less bothered about winning stages now, so seemed happy to let the breaks go early, meaning they couldn't reel them in at the end.

This is why Armstrong was such an exciting rider to watch in the Tour de France. The race was well worth watching back when he was riding. Landis was also exciting in the way he won in 2006. Since then, the only entertaining Tour de France was the 2011 version when that guy Voeckler was hanging on to the yellow jersey.

People now go on about Armstrong and his doping but the riders today, Team Sky etc are all still doping (that British doctor Mark Bonar has admitted that he is doping British Tour de france cyclists). The only difference is that they are boring to the point that race is just not worth following. Armstrong was entertaining and his interviews were fantastic. Even today he still gives a great interview. The TV stations and presenters also now seem to forget about what he did in raising awareness for cancer. the guy wasn't all bad.
