I'll be going into my 2nd year of college and I've been welding for 4 years now during school. I've always wondered if breathing in the fumes and smoke are affecting me dramatically. I do notice every summer I improve my times a lot more than the other runners but it seems whenever I get into season and start putting myself in that smokey environment I only improve a little compared to the other guys. Anyone else that's a welder or has an opinion on this please comment

I've read that in the past some teams have used argon gas to improve VO2 max. If you are using GMAW you will probably breathe in some of the shielding gas. I think you should be more worried about the toxic fumes you are breathing in. Check out the MSDS sheets on your wire or rod and you will see there's some pretty nasty stuff you are breathing in.
That being said, I'm a pretty decent runner and have been welding since I was about 8. -

Yeesh, scary. It explains a lot about the local, wacky, welder. -
I am using Campbell Hausfeld WS099001AV now. I have bought it recently and feel very glad about my choice. If you are looking for a new welding machine now I can give you an example of review (https://toolsduty.com/best-welder-for-beginners/) where you can find good suggestions about welders for beginners. Hope it can help you.

Hmmm, nice, dude. It's very good, that you earn the money, during studying at the school. Moreover, the welding is valued nowadays. Maybe you will even connect your life with it, who knows) Have you thought about improving your services? I mean, the buying of new gadgets, like helmets, table-top laser welders. Frankly speaking, I didn't understand the difference between expensive and cheap equipment before I didn't work with each type. I'm so happy now, that I came across the article "Everlast Welders Review", this is link for reading it - https://toolsforme.org/welders/everlast-welders-review/. It's small, light, portable and works of mains. Try it, if you have the possibility.

That is to say, the purchasing of new devices, similar to head protectors, table-top laser welders. To be honest speaking, I didn't comprehend the contrast among costly and modest gear before I didn't work with each sort. I'm so cheerful now, that I ran over the article "Everlast Welders Review", this is interface for understanding it

All I know is that you should use proper respiratory equipment as I used to have patients with severe lung disease from welding.
