Holy hell that was bad. Did anyone keep track to see if there were more commercial breaks or total minutes of the 10k covered?

Maybe track just shouldn't ever be on tv... You guys complain every time about the coverage

My guess is that we got to see 10-12 minutes of actual running.
Lousy, terrible, awful coverage. What a worthless network.

This is objectively not true if you even read the discussion thread from tonight. From 7pm to 9pm there was, for track, exceptional coverage. The announcer kept his foot mostly out of his mouth, no commercials, and it SHOWED THE RACES. It was an "NBC affiliate"
From 9pm on, it was absolutely atrocious.
People on this message board:
"I don't watch NASCAR because all they do is make left hand turns. Who wants to watch 200 laps of that crap?"
"I AM OUTRAGED AND PISSED THAT NBC DOESN'T SHOW ALL 25 LAPS OF THE 10,000, WHICH IRONICALLY IS ALL LEFT HAND TURNS, TOO"
Same sh*t.
Watched the ENTIRE 10k and now need to look for results to find out how anyone beyond the top three did and it took them a loooooooooong time after Lagat dropped to even figure out was in third...SHAMEFUL!
burn down that broadcasting room.
i'd rather watch the race from a gradnmother's camcorder in 4:3 format, from the top of the stands with 1 minute interruptions for battery changes.
i mean, that would be a massive improvement from the shite these guys were slinging.
They missed both big surges that shaped the race. They cut to shot for the final few throws and I though okay, they deserve some camera time.
BUT, after it was all over they then show a pre recorded bit on other shot putters in the world? Seriously ??? We missed ever major element of the race but the final part. And it was one of the more interesting 10k
The earlier coverage was soon much better. Better camera better announcing I would pay money for that kind of coverage.
Nbc truly sucks

Money was spent. Money was made. That's all that counts.
Meanwhile swimming is prime time, free to air, with a huuuge audience.

They showed Rupp outkicking Kipchichir in the final lap. That's all that matters to THEM, aside from the start. And they couldn't possibly care less what matters to the viewers.
So is there any way to watch the 800 meter opening heats???? Some big names didn't make it and we'll never see what happened??? Were they even filmed??? If NBC isn't going to cover them, couldn't somebody else be allowed to do it??? WTF????
Yeah well, they were streamed live - and the coverage was awesome.

While I have been unimpressed with the coverage, the 800m heats yesterday were streamed live, and are currently available for replay. There are plenty of things to bitch about, but the above is not one of them.

Someone PLEASE take Nbc down, and get rid of them.
NBC's coverage (on the live TV broadcast) was atrocious. Nearly all key moves of the 10K -- and there were many thanks to Rupp's strategy -- were not shown. The only key part of the race we saw was Rupp's final lap and the surge past Kipchirchir at 9800m.
NBC should be ashamed. Once again -- as they do every 4 years -- they have insulted and spit upon long distance runners and fans. I've grown up with this crap watching running since the 80s. It sucks and I hate it.
One good thing I can say is that the LIVE STREAM with single commentary from a guy named Fuerer or something was AWESOME. It was great. They showed the races and the commentator actually knew what the hell he was talking about. NBC should just live stream distance events and let that commentator handle it by himself. Ten times better than the idiots on the live broadcast -- as usual. Bolden and the ugly fat white guy are just horrible. Pathetic and an insult to our sport.

NASCAR races take hours, a 10k takes 30 minutes. Pretty big difference. Watching NASCAR is like watching a 3 or 4 hour ultra marathon on a track. A 10k is about the longest race I would watch (if it's an actual race and not a jog fest).

I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
