No he didn't, Demelesh won world juniors a couple of years ago, not Embaye.

You get magic powers that give you an athletic advantage if you are born on the 1st of Jan?!?!?!
AWESOME!!!
Also, September 17th.
Africans know their birth year, sorry to disappoint.

Most runners in East Africa are from remote rural areas and from illiterate communities. They may know their birth year, but not their birth date. So, the default birth date is 1st of Jan like most migrants birth date in America or Europe.
More like 27 year old

Kamwo in cardiff was in 58-mid/high shape if not tripped at start & couda probably pushed to 58-flat/low if he attacked from gun & not duelling with other kenyan for long time
this in the most terrible weather a global road race has ever been run in !!!
what 10k shape for
Kam !?
I'm thinking 26:40 for Kamoworor? 12:59 isn't great.

The Imane Merga listed as having dnf'd is listed as age 17 also. Clerical error or is this a different Imane Merga?

I meant to say competed and I can't recall if it was track or xc. Back in 2012, I recall seeing an Ethiopian with a birthday that made him 14 years old. Btw, since he is competing in the Olympics and not the junior meet, I don't really care what his DOB is.

40% of the Ethopian/Kenyan Youngsters were born the 1st of January for the IAAF:)
Actually 30-40% were born in December. It's culturally better to have a December birthday. So their world youth (U18) competitors are supposedly 16 when competing - like Alfred Kipketer supposedly was.
Alfred Kipketer, the poster child for age cheating.

Pfft, go back the 2009 world "youth" 800. lol
And note in addition, the great throat slash gesture from the Kenyan, and the Puerto Rican (yes, thats right) Vasquez? in the FINAL Whatever happened to him?
His real age is 23 years old.

in a tactical race some kid now runs 26'50+ when he is better known for 1/2M where mere few weeks ago he got crushed by Kamwo beyond oblivion of whole minutes & you think Kamwo was/in only 26'40 shape ???
you have any clue about the sport ?!?!

It was worse in 2009?
I might be at World Youths next year. Guess where it is? Nairobi.
The age cheating will be off the charts, I'll call it now.
Why do the Africans age-cheat? Disgusting. They should be banned
