The smoothness in the way he runs is incredible. Michael posted a state leading 48.5 for the open 400 last night with a standing start.

That is actually incredible speed for a sub 4 miler.
Don't wanna get excited but I think the kid could be capable of 1:46 low, maybe 1:46.2.
48-1:48-3:59-9:14
What's next?
Not really horrible for a miler in high school.
reminds me of cram how he runs

Smooth, yes, but man, a little tilt hip forwards and lowered arms and he wouldn't be straining as much; he'd be floating along. Less Symmonds, more Solomon. Nice, postured upper body, big stride pushing a path in front of him.
Great run, love him starting with no blocks and dusting those guys in the last 100m
Holy Christ... Not the bottom of his ability! Totally smooth; nothing ragged

Lol Solomon is a 45 guy and Symmonds struggles for 48. Don't use their names in the same sentence when talking about a 400.
where are the black guys?
Imagine what this kid could do in California? All these races in Idaho are crap weather - too windy.

None of the three mentioned are pure 400m guys; why would we compare Michael to Merritt and company? 48-mid is fast for a HS Miler, but it's nothing in the national scene. Comparing Michael to Symmonds and Solomon provides an approachable context for runners with similar strengths. Why so sensitive?

Seriously. My impression was that he was talking about form/stride, anyway...
I think he will break Granville's 800m record in June.
1:46.0
Honestly, I don't even think that this is a very bold prediction. Just indicative of his ability. Truly a special youngster. Very exciting stuff!
Heel striking the whole way.

This.
I like how these guys aren't just running the same event every week and so giving themselves a chance to throw down times up and down the ladder. Maybe a sub 9 2M will be next? College and pro coaches can work with this speed to get him down to a time for a world class 800/1500m runner, absolutely--maybe low 47 as a pro or just a bit better. He doesn't have to be faster than 48.54, however, to be a world class miler.
That's great speed-
Are Slagowski & Hunter scheduled for a fast pro mile (and maybe Lomong, McGorty)? Would not be surprised to them go 3:56, possibly even closer to Webb.
I'm no expert, but it looks like maybe only the guy in lane 6 didn't just stand up out of the blocks ... they just using them to look cool?

I don't think that's bold at all. I was a,huge fan of Ritz and Hall during their junior years. I feel that Slagowski upside is even better than either of them. Love his running style, he just gets after it and doesn't let up. I wouldn't blink if we were to see him run sub 3:50 against college competion, although I fear he leaves it on the track in January.
Comparisons to Ryun and Cram are justified.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
