I think the better question is, why is this even a thread?

Probably because the 10k Olympic final is a snooze/jog fest until sometime in the last mile. This kicking ability - especially if it's not until the last 800 - would benefit him the same way it benefits Mo Farah.
Based on the rough bullsht formula that I used, which has no credibility whatsoever I bet he could break the AR on his first try, calculating to 26:43.86 from the exact hundredth of a second of his PRs. Duhhhh u guyz

Ritz was 14th and it wasn't because of the last 800...

Why would you use 3:30 but then use 13:10???

Just because he ran 13:20 a while ago.
3:31 and 13:20 give ~28:35

You can't just give someone 10 seconds "because he ran it a while ago". He's been running the same 1500m time for years so it's not safe to assume that his times improve just because "a while" has passed.

Now why are you using 3:31?
if german hernandez can't run under 28:00 now, neither can Centro. Also,Centro could not beat Lagat in a 5k right now. Lagat ran 13:38 at Carlsbad road race....

27 mid for sure.

13:38 is faster than 13:20?
@iurr 13:20 doesn't reflect Centro's 5k ability right now. or do you think it does?!Centrowitz ran 13:20 in 2014. That's his PBLagat's PB is 12:53 (AR) if we are digging into the past for performance now?!ALSO IN 2014 Lagat won the USA indoor 3000m (Centro's wheelhouse distance) and won the USA outdoor 5000m championships, in a slow 13:31. (13:18 at carlsbad, faster than centro's pb!)Centro can't run a 13:20 right now. he'll be racing the 1500m in Riolet's put that performance behind us, especially in an Olympic yr

Haha this was clearly a joke that you straight up didn't get

It doesn't say anything about Centro 5k ability right now. Could be faster, could be slower, but that's what he ran the last time he ran a 5k. That's why it makes absolutely no sense to say that Lagat could beat him because Lagat ran 13:38. Makes NO sense.
There's no evidence of who would win.

Where did I say that I "straight up didn't get" it? Again, did you forget your med today? This post of yours just reinforces my point.

That's what he ran the year he ran 13:20.

Ok
Come on, guy. Most know a road race 5k is slower than a track 5k. that's part of my point. 13:38 in Carlsbad 4 weeks ago with 180 degree turns is at least 13:20's on a track today. i'm sure even you will concede that. AND, we all know Lagat is gearing up for a 10k this weekend at Payton Jordan, so his training is less specific for the 5kmakes sense. why would Centrowitz be doing 5k training in late April of an Olympic yr for the 1500m?! He'll certainly be doing strength work , but not "getting ready for a PB 5k race" workI'm not saying i know 100% (it's impossible), but objective reasoning would say Lagat could beat Centrowitz in a 5k TODAY, in a race.
