Alms for the politicians wrote:There shouldn't be any people on money, nor parks, roads, etc. named after politicians. It is a joke to drive on a major road and see signs every so often claiming: Blah Blah memorial highway. In 20, 30, 50, 100 years no one will know who Blah Blah was. Worse, new Blah Blahs, yet to be--future millennials politicians--will be left to name obscure roads, etc., after themselves. Naming things after politicians is nothing more than Egomania.
At least the politicians should be dead and have made significant contributions. Washington and Lincoln are fine. The President George Bush Turnpike in Dallas is a bad joke - "No new taxes, just tolls."
Look at US aircraft carriers: they started out great - Lexington, Saratoga, Ranger, Yorktown, Enterprise, Wasp, Hornet, etc. Now we have the Carl Vinson and John C. Stennis. Those guys would have been lucky to have a transport named after them in WWII. Even some of the carriers named after presidents are named after 2nd or 3rd rate presidents.
