No, Brits know Ryan Hall fairly well as he was once or twice the fastest white guy at the London Marathon.

Not most Brits of course, but the type who would care one way or the other on who the marathon brings in would certainly recognize the name and it is more of a story than if they had somebody like Esther Herb.

London has deep pockets and factor in that it is an Olympic year so there aren't going to be many big names from western countries there so I could see Hall getting 20 grand total out of the deal without even having to break 2:30.

2:31 would have been in the medal hunt in the early 1980s.

What is this, the 1950s? Workplace skill? Think some corporation is going to care for and support you until you're 70? There are fewer and fewer "jobs" out there every year and more and more people selling themselves, which is exactly what the Halls are doing.

That is not the right attitude for a marathon. Anyone can start running with reckless abandon, but its a marathon, not an 800m. It is a test of patience.

Marathoning requires constant attention to your energy levels, rhythm, pacing, and competitors. Reckless abandon will be a disaster.
