Plastic Greek....sad.
Are you trying to create a smear campaign against Pappas?
She's from Bishop O'Dowd, I recall.
it seems weird but I would do the same thing if it got me to the Olympics
the whole 'two generations later' thing is bizarre to Americans tho - what connection do I have to, say, Belarus? it's silly.
Whoa!! What a move, as a fellow Greek, this makes me happy that we have a decent looking and FAST female to represent our country!
Good move. She would never make a US team. Easier to market now.
Also, if you're wondering how this happened

This is all part of a multi-step plan to be in an Oikos Greek yogurt commercial with John Stamos.
I would do it as it would obviously be an awesome experience, but I would have a hard time feeling like a real Olympian if I did that.
I don't blame anyone who does this as I would totally do the same thing if it meant I go to the orgy that is the Olympics. I just wish athletes would admit that is the reason they are representing another country. If she was talented enough there is zero chance she would represent Greece over the United States.
Hope she never tries to represent the US.
Alexi Pappas to Rio and Mary Cain stays home.

"It is with great pleasure and pride that I announce that I will hereby be representing Greece, where I am a dual citizen by birth, in international competition."
"Taking big steps to grow has always expanded my family of teammates and the scope of my athletic potential. Embracing change was the key to my growth"
"nor would I have met my teammate and dear friend Jordan Hasay, and the wondrous “Bun and Pony†would not have been born."
"I do know that this step will open the door for new levels of athletic success and will expand my ability to inspire other runners in the USA, Greece and beyond."

Good grief, according to a google translation of the press release, she's already beaten the Greek national record in the 10,000m by 16 seconds.
http://sportsfeed.gr/2016/02/26/me-tin-ellada-stous-olympiakous/Awesome for her on so many levels!
Some will gripe, but in today's world nationality is becoming more fluid and less of a person's identity. It's cool to rep your heritage, especially a small unique country like greece.
Enjoy Rio and whatever else this decision brings!!!

Yeah. LOL. "Great pride" to represent the most corrupt country in the first world, which you've probably spent two weeks of your life in. Yeah, I'm sure.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
