Mo is a chess player. You want to see a running back. Like it or not.
He does not have to worry about feeding any mouths. He got a million dollars just for running the London marathon.
He is not a chess player. He is a coward. Bekele and Geb and others had no problem pushing the pace and taking risks. Has nothing to do with being a running back.
It's all relative, baby. Who knows when his gig is up? How long will a million dollars (which is probably $600,000 after taxes) or for that matter $3 million last when you live at a certain lifestyle. Of course he wants to build his nest egg as much as possible and not live in a house in Kenya for the rest of his life like many of WR Kenyans are now doing.
As for the folks you mentioned, well they just weren't tested out their in Ethiopia or Kenya are they? If you were one of the best natural runners in the world, and then pumped full of EPO you might just hammer away to. After all, you can run 7:25 3K and look like you just ran a comfortable 400 repeat right after you finish. But I still remember Geb sitting on Tergat and Komen and stinging them in the end.
You could certainly argue that Farah should have more balls or that's the kind of runner you like to watch. Fair enough. But Farah is a chess player. He's calculated and smart. He's not a running back, he's a clever quarter back.
