That's how I see it.
First, a very conservative justice will be replaced by someone.
Obama will nominate someone.
Probably someone very reasonable.
If that person is approved, then the political balance changes in the Supreme Court.
If the Republicans stall into November with an approval, they could be hurt politically if voters see them as unreasonable.
That could hurt Republicans in the senate races and in the presidential election.
If Hillary gets elected, they'll just confirm the choice after the election and before she is sworn in.
Worst case scenario for Democrats - the Senate stalls and we get a Republican president who appoints someone that can't be any more conservative than Scalia (Rest In Peace).
