Obvious troll post. Even uses a Mike Rossi quote, 'worked my tail off'
If true, equally pathetic. Just run your marathon.
I was going to say he kinda sounds like the anti-Rossi.
First off, he probably actually qualified for Boston, then he doesn't want anything to do with his family being there. This guy will not be taking his kids out of school to have a learning experience.
Oh man, I learned this the hard way one year. My brother-in-law lived in Boston while working for an investment firm. I was two years out of college running and was pretty excited to run my first Boston. I was planing to break 2:30 and felt like I had trained pretty well for the race.
First, let me say that I really like my brother-in-law, so this isn't a post about him being a jerk, but it was just the timing of the whole thing that sucked. First of all, he wasn't my brother-in-law yet, he was just my girlfriend's brother. So my girlfriend and I fly up there two days before the race and he literally has EVERY FREAKING SECOND of the day planned out with activities and meals and places to get drinks. I was kind of thankful and kind of horrified at the same time, you know? So I finally get the sack to tell him that I needed some time alone the night before the race, so he and my girlfriend go out with friends and I just chilled at his house and made some pasta. It was too little, too late, though. I was worn out from walking all over the city and staying out late and eating bad food. I had taken it easy on the drinking, but the night before we ducked out early to get home at 1:30am. I ended up running a hair north of 2:30 and missed my goal time. Literally 5 minutes after I get back to his apartment on Comm Ave, he has us scheduled to meet buddies for a Patriot's Day party. I was seriously dragging and pissed at my time. My stomach hurt and I think the rest of the day took years off of my life.
Great guy, but terrible race weekend host, LOL. In the subsequent years that I ran, he had moved to Cambridge so it wa easier to fly in the day before, stay in a hotel and then meet up with him at night after the race and a long nap in the hotel. We'd also stay a few days after the race for fun Boston stuff.
You should be thankful they care enough to even go. My in laws went to 1 race of mine simply because they were there for a fair and the race was part of it. I've run many marathons even won some and they never went even if the race was in their city or close to them. I actually get along with my in laws well and honestly them not showing up or showing up never affected my race in any way.
You should really wait to see if you get first....Just my opinion....LOL
"get in"
I broke my qualifying time by 5 mins. Will have to wait and see
I qualified with 22 minutes to spare but have no interest in Boston. That should leave a space for you so you can get in.
Your welcome.
Sorry I don't give out pars on the back lol
