I just looked at the list of entered athletics for the Olympic Marathon Trials and saw that Abdi Abdirahman is listed as "scratched." I hadn't seen this anywhere before. Anyone know anything?

Anyone?
Guess if it says scratched, he is scratched.
IT'S A PLOY! Rupp is going to sh*t his pants now when the Black Cactus shows up at the start line, let's never forget the spanking Rupp took in 2008 to Abdi at Hayward.
I heard he's doing the scorch trials instead.
Confirmed injury to his left calf. It sounds like he's missed closer to 4 weeks of training.
What a shame, but an amazing achievement to have made four Olympic teams.
where do you read this? At the USATF website/ status of athletes tab only Braun, Derrick, Hall, Molke and Mora are listed as scratch as of 2/14:33 CST. is that not a current list?
Clearly shows him as "scratched"
Look again: http://www.usatf.org/Events---Calendar/2016/U-S--Olympic-Team-Trials---Marathon/Status-of-Entries.aspxThen read the linked SI article.

It listed that Abdi as scratched since this morning. I think I'm looking at the same list.
Teflon doper. Happy to see him go.
We'll miss you Black Cactus. Here is hoping that 2016 is injury free and you can put in some good training for 10k!
I have always thought he comes across as well spoken and thoughtful in interviews.
Likeable guy but he really pulled one out of his ass to make the 2012 team while waving to the crowd running 2:09 pace. Nothing he did right before or after indicated that kind of fitness. In this day and age you have to be skeptical. Also believe he was training with know drug cheat Mo Trafeah leading up to the 2012 trials.
Okay I know this is probably reaching quite a bit, but I find it interesting that we're hearing about the withdrawals of a big name people after Rupp declares for the marathon - Hall, Teg and now Abdi. Of course there are other variables involved, but is it possible that Rupp's presence just proved a clincher, that between him, Ritz and Meb, the other guys just figure it's not worth the effort, and better to refocus elsewhere than fail to quality?

When was the last good run by Hall, Teg, and Abdi, each? Also, Hall and Teg had already decided they weren't running before Rupp declared (Abdi probably had to, it just wasn't public).
I saw Abdi open up a huge lead and win the 10k at pac10 champs at Stanford(98 or 99). Meb was gaining ground but ran out of room.
Legend has it that Abdi didn't start running until juco and broke 15 in 5k his first race ever.
If top three would have been the guy's 5th Olympic team, correct? Dude's a legend.
