It's just a long running joke on here since Chris Solinsky's comment in 2011.

Are we betting on the running or the winning?
A beer at the Wild Duck in July?
Or something more?

Might make sense for him to start the race, then decide by mile 20 if he has a shot to make the team. I think he will win or will DNF.
Alberto is feeling a little left out,
The biggest running event in the USA over the next few months is the marathon trials and NOP is not a factor.
Jerry has Shalane and Amy and he has no one.
Solution. Fabricate a story and the stupid running media will bite.
Galen has NO plans to run the marathon trials.

The race starts at 10:00am.
Last year on 2/13/15, it was 82.9 degrees at 10:47am and 87.1 at 11:47 am in downtown Los Angeles (KCQT weather station). Coupled with the poor air quaility, these types of temps are not Rupp-certified.
Sure, everyone knows when you are at or near at all time record high for a date, you will replicate those conditions exactly one year later.

Sounds good to me.
I am saying he doesn't even start the race.
Barring injury or setback between now and then he will toe the line at the marathon trails. He'll be instructed to run by feel. If he feels good he'll keep it rolling and make the team. If anything goes poorly or he feels like he's having an off day he will drop out and consider it a workout.
Either way he has 4 full weeks to recover for World Indoors. He has the best team in the world to assist in his recovery.
I don't think World Indoors is a huge priority (Farah already indicated that he's skipping it, as have many others).
I'm guessing that he skips World Indoors completely and will run one or two meets before the track trials, one of which will be the Pre Classic.
That's my guess.

That is quite the guess. Rupp has never run a marathon. Don't discount the real marathoners running the trials. Rupp could finish the marathon and not make the top three, or top even top four.
I don't see him finishing the race if there's no chance that he'll make the team.
If he runs the Trials to win, it will be the first Truly Interesting thing he has done as a runner.

Here's a video of Rich Froning outside in the snow, shirtless, about to go for a swim. The Fron doesn't need to wear a shirt, he is bulging in places that Galan doesn't even have.

Like a bad Twitter account...

When does a sit and kick runner know they won't finish top three? Mile 25, or later?

I agree.
However there's an 82.9 percent chance that he doesn't start the race.

Alright.. an evening of beers at the Wild Duck in July.
I say he runs, you're saying he doesn't make it to the starting line.
Saw a girl wearing full outdoor run gear today at the gym - she wasn't even running. Totally going to be in the trials.
