Sure looks like Rupp is actually going to run the trials. Saw a short video on Treniere Moser's Instagram of Rupp, Centro, Treniere and Rowbury running on an indoor track. Rupp is wearing tights and a long-sleeve shirt. Everyone else is wearing a lot less. To me, that means he is training his body for the heat of LA.
Looks like Rupp is preparing to run marathon trials

100% confirmed then

Galan Rupp doesn't want anyone to see his SCRAWNY body. I approve the use of long sleeves to cover up where real athletes are RIPPED and SHREDDED.
Here's a video of Rich Froning outside in the snow, shirtless, about to go for a swim. The Fron doesn't need to wear a shirt, he is bulging in places that Galan doesn't even have.

Is that Rich Froning guy the cross fitter that had to retire at 27 because of low testosterone from all his drug use?
Sucks to be done at 27 and BALD. -
Yay!
Calling it now (in no particular order)
Sam Chelenga
Galen Rupp

So the long sleeve shirt outweighs the counter-fact that he is doing intervals on an indoor track?
-
word out of pdx is that rupp has been ripping 3K-type interval sessions on the indoor track, so I'd guess a marathon is unlikely.
-
I'll be the first to say this may be evidence of Rupp taking on the ultimate challenge - a marathon on a track.

Not sure what the entry deadline is, but Rupp doesn't show up on the list of entries. He did enter in 2012, but didn't compete.
As far as the "heat of LA", it's not likely to be very hot on February 13th in the morning. -

can anyone confirm if he switched directions? that'd be a dead giveaway.
but seriously i have continued to question why he'd be working out on an indoor track for marathon training. regardless of what he wore, i dont see him doing the trials at this point unfortunately.....unless of course those "3k workouts" the above poster mentioned were like 6-8 x 3k repeats!!!! -
For what it's worth, I saw him running pathways a month ago. It looked like a long run.

And this is why running isn't popular. The best distance runner in the country, and we have no idea if he's racing a marathon in 3 weeks--the Olympic trials, no less.

Rupp's personal svengali, second papa, leader, and master, doesn't want you to know what Rupp will, or will not, run. This game has been going for many years. -

Does this guy still think he's funny? -
The word on the street in Beaverton is that he is indeed planning on running. Tegenkamp is NOT running.

I still do. Specifically because he's still doing the exact same thing. Love it. -
The race starts at 10:00am.
Last year on 2/13/15, it was 82.9 degrees at 10:47am and 87.1 at 11:47 am in downtown Los Angeles (KCQT weather station). Coupled with the poor air quaility, these types of temps are not Rupp-certified. -
It could be a 3k marathon.

I get that it is a completely different situation, but there have been lots of articles on Ritz doing intervals and running on an indoor track. Also, there are lots of tight turns on the LA course, so I imagine it wouldn't hurt to run on an indoor track for a bit. Lastly, the fact that he was running with Moser, Rowbury and Centro indicates that he was going much further than them - perhaps even tempoing. It doesn't seem like the worst strategy.
