No huge issue here, but it sure does sound like the founders (and anyone else who uses similar terms in these forums) are discrediting any performance not on a 200m track. I understand that different track configurations can be an advantage or disadvantage depending on the event, but to go as far as to call certain tracks "illegal" is going way too far.
Firstly, athletes who run a certain time over a certain distance did, in fact, achieve that time over that distance. To add a virtual asterisk on an athlete's performance by commenting on the track size is to diminish that athlete's performance.
Additionally, a lot of programs have limited to no access to a 200m track, but it seems that many Nor'Easters are not aware of this. Indoor track is not nearly as universal in other parts of the country, and therefore facilities are few and far between.
Lastly (and this is perhaps the most important point), I don't think that people who profess to love this sport and support it at high levels should resort to this kind of negative commentary. I don't just mean the Brojos, either. Most people come to these forums because they love track and want to see it thrive. Knocking an amazing performance on these forums is doing just the opposite. Personally, I'd rather see people rave about it and be inspired by it, leading to even more great runners and performances down the road.
