You're not eligible to set junior records the year you turn 20, even if you're not 20 yet. If he turns 20 in the spring, then it's not an American junior record indoors.

No kidding. He won't turn 20 this year. Hence: "He turns 19 in the Spring."
5.70 seconds vs 7 seconds matters? No it doesn't. The fact the of matter is brazier vs grant is like shooting fisher in a barrel

Wait, Rojo, you're saying that BEFORE this race, Creese had the record of 2:21.89... and then in this race, he ran 2:21.89 again? Or was the record another number?
That was a typo on my part. I'm changing it now. The American record was 2:19.53 by Creese.

What kind of a douche bag runs that hard this early in the year??
You always should run hard when you're feeling it.
You never pass up a chance to run fast. You don't know when it will happen again.
I'll be interested to see what Carlton Orange (Arkansas) opens up in for 800 now. He also ran 1:47 in the 800 last year as a highschooler and has serious potential. Don't hand Brazier the NCAA title yet.
Awesome! You guys remember a couple weeks ago when he went 4:07 in the mile, and someone on that discussion thread was like "big deal. Go 1:46 low indoors and then we'll be impressed". Well there you go, idiot! Hahahahahahaha
Go Donovan!
ABSOLUTELY.

rojo wrote:You almost have to feel sorry for Creese. He goes from, "Wow I'm the collegiate record holder at 1k. I'm gonna win NCAAs in the 800" to "Coach, can I run the mile at NCAAs" simply due to Brazier's unreal run.
Given PSU's record, he should be saying "coach, can you please just train me so that I can still run a decent time at nationals instead of blowing my whole load in January and running like crap for any meet that might matter?"
Prediction: he wins indoors, Murphy destroys outdoors.
Anyone have any word on Myles Marshall another super talented freshman 800 runner.
Great for Brazier, an old freshman who ran blazingly fast in a no-competition race at a pointless meet at a meaninglless time of the year. He's going to find that going through the rounds and racing guys around his ability is a differnet ball game in the championship, assuming he isn't burned out or injured. Not saying he isn't very talented, but he's not the defactor winner, and clayton murphy is a far superior racer
Shout out to this young man. The record had been mine for 17 years. All the best to you as the season goes along.
Did you not see the post about how he turns 19 this spring? He isn't old at all for his grade.

Myth Busters showed that wasn't so easy, Fisher may be just fine.
Running 4 seconds faster than needed will destroy even the best of runners. Those are 4 seconds no one can ever get back. You, my friend, are most likely an Olympic coach with this 4 second burned out/injured wisdom. Confusedsish says maybe 1:45.9 is a slow time for the young one! Keep up the excellent running grasshopper.

I thought he turned 20 in the spring because you wrote "Donavan turns 20 in the Spring."
Replied to wrong post.

once in a ~50yr talent as far as U.S. is concerned
There would be quite a few 1:46's in US high schools if the system would ever let them focus on the 800, instead of hyping the mile and making them run relays.
And one can't count the number of foreign runners over the past decade faster than that at or before 18. Many of whom really are their reported age.

Watching him go 1:47-48 last year and appear to be jogging was a pretty good indicator he's one of the few who can represent US at WCs and Olympics with a hope of winning eventually. He's just so smooth it's not fair.
