I guess the whole point of this rant is to indicate the level of support one might expect from Icon Health & Fitness should a warrantable problem develop later during ownership.
The Epic T60 treadmill from Costco is a real beast. I don't know what it weighs, but it took three hefty guys to get it in the house. After removing the packaging, my wife says "how come the walking belt is cattywampus on the platform?" I assured her that would be adjusted out later, but it wasn't to be.
Most of Icon's other treadmill brands have adjustments at both the front & rear rollers to center the belt. But the Epic T60 is only adjustable at the rear. After getting the belt centered at the rear, it's still off by more than an inch on the front roller. Standing back and looking at it, it's obvious that the walking platform angles toward the left side of the machine. The left pivot bracket is bent.
Okay, no problem. Return it to Costco for a new one...except they're temporarily sold out. So I call Icon for a warranty replacement or repair, whichever is necessary. Icon makes me send them pictures, then they claim there's nothing wrong. I disagree, so they send their own repair service to look at it. The service reports to Icon that the mill has severe shipping damage and must be replaced. Icon then demands that I send them more pictures and finally...they assign a person to handle the replacement. Time elapsed so far is two weeks.
The replacement person then calls me and tells me he's working on my paperwork, gives me his phone number, and invites me to "call any time." After another week with no news, I began calling to find out the status. All I got was three long-distance phone charges and three unanswered voicemails.
I really want this treadmill; it's powerful as hell, has all the features I want, and the price can't be beat. But I just had bypass surgery and can't mess around with two more round trips to Costco with a 300# lump. So I called Costco's customer service # and related my tale. Boy, were they ever annoyed with Icon! They had a buyer call me back. She needed a bit more info, then left me with the words "don't worry, we'll take care of you." I hope so. Otherwise, the mill goes back for a full refund.
