Question from a aspiring coach wrote:
Hey guys, I have a question about taking the part time route to a full time position. How would you guys say this path needs to be taken in order to successfully get a full time throws coach position? Do you recommend the GA route or even the volunteer at a bigger school path as the way to go?
Volunteer route is likely best, but GA route often gives you down the road options in other areas. The biggest thing is not pigeon holing yourself into just a throws coach. The best thing for you to do is learn to coach all the field events including multi-events to attain a full time position. This broad area of coverage gives you the ability to fit into many programs as a full time assistant.
