This. You can still PR, but, you need to think long term and you will need to, eventually, train as hard (and harder) than you did when you set your PR. Improvements initially will be quite significant as you lose weight and build a base. However, as you start getting fitter, dropping time to reach a PR will take more and more work. However, in answer to your question, running will start feeing consistently fun again in about 8 weeks.
