I was a fairly decent runner in college (29:51/14:05/8:02/4:07) but I lost interest in the sport and did not run for 2 years. I started going to the gym, eating garbage, and drinking heavily several times a week. I was 125-130 lbs when I ran these times and I'm 170-175 now. I have been running 5 times a week for the past 2 weeks but I still feel like I am struggling on my runs while going 7:40-8 min mile pace? Am I done? How long would it normally take to get back to peak fitness after such a long hiatus? Is it even possible for this to happen?
