Don't know Mick personally, but nice try.
With the success he's had at Wisconsin, he could've been last at conference this year and I still wouldn't call for his head. That's how adults in successful programs handle down years, not by overreacting.

OK Gavin
Mick has had a lot of success at Wisconsin, but I have concerns as a badger fan. His first few teams were loaded with guys that Jerry brought in and were already somewhat developed, and Mick did a great job with getting those guys to perform. But Wisconsin can't get 5 guys on the line capable of performing? Seems like a lot more injuries and big underperformers (like guys totally dissappearing). You can't train all your young guys like Mo Ahmed.
Some coaches are great managing great talent like Dave Smith, other coaches are great at developing talent like Mark Wetmore. Is Mick really the right fit for a Wisco? Especially for overseeing a full track team? Time will tell in the next few years if this is just a blip or the start of a trend. There's a wealth of ability on that roster, and Wisconsin doesn't have years like this, so there should be questioning if this is just an anomaly or how things are going to be now. There's no doubt he can coach a certain level of athlete, but I'm not convinced he's the best guy to be looking over an entire mens and womens program.
Although I agree with a lot of what you said, I was under the impression that Mick's initial recruits were the guys he led to a title (Mav, Reed, etc.)? I also think Mick has proven he can develop talent. Krause and Van Voorhis come to mind quickly. But I do agree he has more of a mindset to handle top-end talent and he has been shaky thus far as the director of t&f.

How did Ahmed train?
He ran pretty impressive workouts, but his mileage was seldom over 90mpw. He spent most of his time in the mosque. I'm not kidding. This guy doesn't know what he's talking about.
I'm wondering if their poor showings in the early season (Pre-Nats en Wisco-invite) will hurt Wisconsin if they finish outside the auto-Q spots at regionals. With this result, that could be happening. I can't believe they are holding back for a conference championship meet.
Failing to make nationals happened to Arkansas a few years back and I think Wisco's region is a lot stronger than the South Central.
Hey Mick,
Welcome to a real conference and one where you're expected to perform in track too. They have tons of talent on that team, but you have to get them better. Nuttycombe and Jerry did it all there, so the support is certainly there. Have to have the right people though. Gavin is great at collecting talent, but you have to have the chemistry and "badger tough".

Is "badger tough" like "badger miles"? Does Mick do "badger miles"

Seems I struck a nerve with you. I was just curious if they were carrying on with at least some of the traditions at Wisconsin, winning aside.

it seems like joe hardy's 'tendacies' from high school have carried into and infected wisconsin. some1 has to put a leash on that boy.
What? Definitely not Hardy's problem, I mean he 10th at this meet and won the 1500 last spring at Big 10's...he's a stud already and has plenty of time to possibly be a contender....not sure how that's what's been "infecting" Wisco...

Can't see Wisco making nationals if they don't auto-Q at regionals. In fact, I won't be surprised if Great Lakes only sends 2 to nationals. [most of the at-large teams will come out of Mountain + West, at least some from SE, at least 1 from NE, maybe 1 from Mid Atl, and MW now looks stronger than GL with IL and MN finishing 2-3 at B1G.]

This is a despicable performance by Wisconsin. I think it's time for a change at the top. I would look for a real head coach and then hire Chris Solinsky. Mick and Gavin need to be chased out of Madison with flaming pitchforks. I've seen better performances by high school teams.

You kidding me bruh? This is Wisconsin not Iona and Mick is tarnishing the great tradition. Maybe a great coach when he recruits Irishmen and Kenyans but he can't get top American talent to perform. I hope Hacker gets the hell outta there if they don't shi* can the whole staff. Get Solinsky and rebuild the machine again.
Nope, not Chris, just a fan of the program and long time Badger lover.
It's either Chris or Bobby Lockhart
Those guys were real Badgers and i'm neither Bobby or Chris...nice try Gavin.
I'm glad we have the insider conversation between Chris and Gavin!
I heard that Mick is planning to retire after this year, so his plan is to tank the season so when Gavin takes over it will look like he did a great job turning the team around!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
