Didn't Malachy drop out?
Didn't Malachy drop out?
Assuming yes because he is not in the top ten individual results and he was leading from the gun until around 4k
Based on the splits it looked like Malachy tried to drop everyone, then started to die and dropped out.
Even if malachy dropped out, they still were nowhere near winning. Wisconsin is not very good.
If Malachy wins they still only finish 6th, how does a team with this much talent do nothing? And what happened to them saying they would run Olin??
Olin's achilles still not ready
This is shaping up to be a wild collapse. They've never missed nationals since they started the regional qualifying system in the early '70s. Even if Malachy bounces back their 5th will kill them at Great Lakes.
I realize they have injuries, but that is a pretty stacked roster.
Their worst finish EVER. Once they got 7th
Does anyone know what happened to Malachy? Something drastic, clearly.
As a previous poster said, this is setting up to be an epic collapse. The irony of jogging Louisville to "see the NCAA course" and then not even making it... the teams that beat them thinking they were going to be pushed in by them later in the year have to be appalled.
I'm not sure if the majority of the team has been hampered by injuries this year or what, but something is clearly not right in Madison.
Anybody have any real insight into the situation there?
this team did so well as underclassmen class year, what the hell happened? have they been that injury plagued or has more been going on? did this all start during track?
So... maybe Pre-Nats wasn't a tempo.
Or they tempoed Big 10s.
Either way somebody's fired.

The coach has lost control of the team and the culture of discipline has been shed. Expect people to transfer out and recruitment to fall off of a cliff.
Another great showing by Ohio State.

But these same recruits produced last year as freshman and sophomores. What gives? Gavin not recruiting the right type of guys?
Good thing Ohio state has a 14:54 kid from high school running 24:20 for 8k... carry the two... Yeah that's probably slower... smh

I actually thought OSU was slightly improved, if still mediocre at best. Not sure what happened with Gary's last couple of recruiting classes (Redd, Hanle, Hannaford's, Pupino, Weaver), but that group all seems to be gone or not contributing. Any insight?
Allen's got a few young guys that are at least passable. They badly need more bodies, but there's a little foundation. Any idea who they're bringing in or have waiting in the wings?

Bradjic hasn't been healthy in 3 years. At least they're getting something from him.
That's the best finish by Illinois in years. Local runner Jon Davis of nearby Oakwood , a foot locker finalist last year called Coach Stewart and committed yesterday morning before his sectional race according to the Champaign News-Gazette. Maybe the Illini can string together some good years here. I"m Shocked that Wisconsin has ran this poorly this year.
With the group you bring up... 1 out of the 2011 recruiting class (Brajdic) is still on the team out of the original 10-12 that came in. One graduated, one transferred, a few quit/cut, a few gone due to grades. Different culture on the team from when Gary was there. A few of the other guys that should contribute are banged up more often than not.As for those waiting in the wings I doubt it... They ran their best roster at B1G so I wouldn't expect too much more.

Guys, don't worry about Wisco. It's like still way too early in the season to race hard....
I mean conference championships? Who cares! It's all about the National Championships!
