I've been running in our HS team now for the last couple of years and our coach has always been kind of tough and a bit eccentric. She is originally from Estonia so maybe it's cultural but she always ends up giving us or the slowest guy in training some kind of punishment - extra laps, reps pulling a tyre or making the slowest in the team wear a T-shirt saying loser.
This can be quite funny at times especially when it's to someone else but lately she seems to be taking things a bit too far and saying that we're not giving enough in training hence our poor results.
For example, a few weeks ago she burst into the shower room with a hose and sprayed us with freezing cold water. Then a couple of weeks ago she made the slowest guy in our team, Joe, run an extra lap with a pair of old smelly shorts on his head as punishment. Anyway, the most recent incident was the craziest where she demanded extra laps from Brad who totally lost it on his last 400m rep and jogged in about 90+ seconds. When he told her that he wasn't doing them, she started getting really worked up and saying that that was the reason he was so weak and under performing.
Things started getting heated and he called her a bitch which led her to grabbing him (she's a big lady at 6 ft 1) and putting him across her knee and spanking the living hell out of his ass complete with shorts down.
To be honest, a lot of us weren't sure whether to laugh as we initially thought it was a joke but Brad seemed pretty humiliated about it and so we've all decided not to turn up to training next week.
Has anyone else every seen this kind of thing? Not sure if it's common but I suspect she may not understand that this kinda thing isn't cool in the US. What's the best way to stop this from happening again?
