She's not on the team but is a frosh? WTF?
Tabor is a freshman, though she does not appear on the CU roster, not sure where she is attending school. She was listed earlier last month as part of the incoming class. Tabor and her family live in the mountains west of Denver. She ran in the 18's for 5 km road races as a HS freshman. This past spring her family, they all run, opted her out of competing for the HS team, which is a small school and there was not much competition. I do recall her running close to 4:50 for the 1600 last season in an invitational. She is obviously talented, but is clearly being directed by her parents. Not sure is she will/will not be part of the CU team.
She seemed pretty happy to have signed a scholarship offer last November.
It wouldn't surprise me if she is enrolled at CU but has cut or somehow put on hold her official ties to the program. If you have ever seen the family in action -- and this is not an across-the-board ill judgment -- just trying to picture the dad letting control of her training and racing at all, much less to someone who won't let her race dozens of times per year, buggers the mind.
I know the Schools quite well, so I'll set the record straight. There was a snafu with her enrollment for this fall, which wasn't realized until right before school was to begin. So she will be on campus beginning with the 2nd semester.
She and her family are awesome people! Her parents DO NOT direct her training. She has been coached via the internet by a two different well known local coaches.
She is a good, honest, nice kid!
Hello all and thank you for your responses. Coach Wetmore described her as a sleeper or maybe a wild card from a small town in Colorado. I was from a small town in Colorado and love a David and Goliath story, so I hope she does well.
Female coach having affair with male runner. Should I report it?
Colin Sahlman runs 1:45 and Nico Young runs 1:47 in the 800m tonight at the Desert Heat Classic
If Daniel's and Pfitz are outdated..then where do I look for modern training plans?
