1. Last year's "final four" do a three-game playoff in late August before the regular season starts.
2. The winner of the playoff is automatically in the championship game in January.

that is not a good idea
Last year has nothing to do with this year due to graduations, impact freshmen, etc. But I would expand the playoff from 4 to 8 teams, comprised of the power 5 conference champs + the 3 best remaining from the polls. Gives the independents, smaller conference champs and runners up from strong conferences a shot.
One thing they for sure should do is make it harder for teams to get rewarded for scheduling 2-3 non-conference cream puffs to pump up their wins. I'd much rather see Ohio State play Florida than Northern Iowa, for example.
That is the stupidest idea I have ever heard, you can't be nearly as stupid as you appear to be by typing such complete nonsense. Does 'cfb' stand for Completely F*&^ing Brainless?
I follow college football closely very closely. This is about the dumbest playoff idea I have heard related to the playoff.
Honestly. really stupid.
How about just giving last year's champ a bye? Wait, because the team changes every year with "graduation" and loss of staff.
The same applies to this scheme. Heck, odds are pretty decent that none of the 4 from last year will be in the playoff this year.
This is about as good of an idea as "free" universal healthcare. Astonishingly stupid.
