The article said that he saved $700, not that he made $700. Do you not understand the difference? -

Bahahahaha
- He made $700 for the summer
- His brother handed down a 2002 Honda Civic LX for free
- He spent $500 on shoes for his teammates
Of the remaining $200 he stated, "I spent $100 of it at the store and then the rest of it I kept in my wallet."
Maybe you two are the ones having difficulty? -
Maybe he earned 2000 but spent 1300 on food, parties, trips, during the summer.

No, it says that he saved $700. Meaning that at the end of the summer, $700 is what was left of whatever he made. That he spent $500 of his savings on shoes, spent $100 on other things at the running store, and kept $100 in savings doesn't have anything to do with this discussion.
This could mean that he made $1,500 over the summer, spent $800 over the summer, and then spent/saved the remaining $200 as described in the quote. We don't know how much he made.
I was trying to be a smartass when I asked if the poster knew the difference between savings and earnings. I didn't realize that I'd actually have to explain it to someone. -
Very cool story and great gesture on his part.
