Why is she so excited to edge Jenny Simpson at the line while feeding off her pacing for 1500 meters? No heart to go for it like Jenny is every race. I think Rowbury is in much better shape than she thinks, but she seems too afraid to go out on her own past Simpson early.

This is very reminiscent of every intl 1500 4-7 years ago when all the americans would sit mid pack and race each other and not worry about the leaders. ZZZZZZZZZZZ

It seems like its only in the womens groups as well, this happened with my university xc team. They had no ambition on beat other teams, just their own.

If you remember back to Monaco where Simpson lost to Rowbury, she commented afterward that she was surprised because Rowbury had not beaten her in "years." True or not, that really got Rowbury's hackles up, and she's owned Simpson since. Never give an opponent bulletin board motivation.
-
This is a naive post. Rowbury was a former World Championship bronze medalist and ran very well in the last Olympic finals (which Simpson was not in). To say that she has no heart to go for it is idiotic. They both ran an excellent race today to place 3rd & 4th in very a strong international field.
They will have a rematch in the 5th Avenue Mile race on Sunday on tired legs. -

Except in last weeks 3k. -

Yeah, she's "owned" her...at stepping on her heels for 1450 or 1550 meters and then winning the "fastest loser" prize (aka "first American").
That little celebration as she kicked for 5th or 7th or whatever to win her little mental rivalry was pathetic. No wonder US women aren't really competitive.
At least Simpson has the heart to go for it. -

Rowbury has been running that way since high school. Sit back and coast then sprint by at the finish. She's a product of immense talent. -

Unfortunately, 3k results do not count in 1500/mile rankings. After Brussels, Rowbury has a 3-2 head to head 1500/mile record vs Simpson which will likely give her #1 American ranking. T&FNs rankings are determined by 1) honors won and 2) head to head results. Rowbury finished higher than Simpson at worlds and won the head to head matchup. Plus she broke a 30-year-old AR. -

My thoughts exactly! Shannon seems more intent on beating Jenny then running her own race.
Frankly I don't think Jenny is worried about Shannon one bit. She has much bigger fish to fry.
Shannon wants to be the best U.S. female in 1500 and really really wants want beat Jenny. Jenny is looking at improving and striving to be her best and represent team U.S.A. -

It must not have been Brussels (or Monaco too for that matter) where Simpson went for it as she was far back from the leaders in both races. To me, going for it means going with the leaders. -

Yes! Yes!
Silly Shannon it was TRUE! Shannon hadn't beaten her in years. Jenny is honest but sometimes she says things that would be better left unsaid. But it's FUNNY. And it did get Shannon's hackles up (lol).
She is so intent on beating Jenny that she can't see straight.
Well good on ya Shannon. Enjoy it. . . -

Where do you people come up with these delusional comments.
Shannon also wants to be the best female in the world.
Jenny is just another body in a race for her to conquer
Shannon isn't worried about Jenny or anyone else because she can't control what they do.
She focuses on what she can do to make herself better.
She has made great progress in 2015
Accept the facts and get over it. -

Your funny :) Shannon wants to be the best in the world. Yeah. Right. She is not even on Simpsons level. She doesn't have a chance to medal at worlds or Olympics. She is a good runner for team U.S.A. sometimes .But she has no chance on world stage. Sorry. Truth. But I give her credit for trying but she should stop her silly imagined rivalry with Jenny. Like I said before Jenny doesn't see he as a "rival." -

Let's not forget that the winner ran an area record and fastest time in almost 20 years. They were running some fast times and you push for those best you can. Simpson got a PB. It was some great running and Rowbury can't wait around shooting for a PB and know what you know in hindsight, that she might not have gotten it. You sort that out at the finish, not turn to Jenny and politely usher her in first. It's a race, after all. Simpson wants to beat her, outrun her. Great running by both! -

Exactly. We could say the same thing about Ryan Hill or Ben True, but I wouldn't. I am a fan of all of them, but it's a race. If Hill or True beat Rupp by pacing behind him for a while, all power to them. Nice run by all three given it's late season and not too many people on this board have broken 13:10. :-) -

Rowbury would have been fifth in that race, escept for the fact that the likely winner was shoved down be the eventual winner, who was then DQ'd. So she basically had the heart to be mid-pack. -

Last time I checked Simpson had the right to get to the line first.
Stop being a whiny baby poor sport -

Jenny is no where near the best in the world right now
Sorry. Truth
Shannon beat Simpson and set the AR in the process.
Sorry. Truth.
Shannon is past Simpson's level right now
Sorry. Truth
You are the one with the silly imagined rivalry between Shannon and Jenny.
