I sweat like a pig. My weather is not eastern Carolina hot/humid, but it is fairly close to that. It is hot and quite humid here in the summer (a l-o-n-g summer), and I would agree that it is the humidity that brings about the suffering. You make excellent points about intervals and long runs. If I get out early enough, I can make (or get very close to) my target interval times, but long runs are difficult. Doing 15 or more in the humidity is NOT pleasant.
There is nothing wrong with you. I have never liked the heat, but, as my coach says, the grind-it-out summer miles make you a better runner. I would also note that the hills add another dimension of suffering. Your area is a tad hotter than mine, but my area is rather hilly. I have noticed that on a hot/humid day, those hills are not a welcome sight. Toward the end of a long run, I say in my mind "Oh...no..."
