When I ran 4:59 the first time I ran 10:54 a week later.
When I ran 4:59 the first time I ran 10:54 a week later.
One meet I ran 5:01 then 10:57 the same day so I say around 10:40 if you only ran the 2 mile
The first time I cracked 5-flat (4:57) I also PRed in the 2 mile (11:12)

I can a five minute mile. I usually run 2 miles in my shorts and t-shirt. HTH.
I ran 5:08 and 10:32 my freshman year of high school. I ran 5:08 indoors, and then another 5:08 doubling back from a 10:44 on a very hot day outdoors. The 10:32 was my last race of outdoors with decent weather. So I was probably in 4:50's shape fresh.
I would say a 5 flat miler should be able to run 10:40-10:50 for the 2 mile if they have more endurance, and closer to 11:00 if they have more speed (but with a faster 800 time than the endurance-based runner).
Every good equivalence calculator gives 5:00 = 10:48, which happen to be my PRs from sophomore year HS. HS career ended up at 10:00 (argh), 4:48 (rarely ran) and 2:10 (dirt track).
20 years later, 5:00/10:48 are the times that started my Master's career, which ended up 4:40 (4:20 1500) and 10:21 (rarely run) but my best event ended up being 800 (2:06).
I am a speed based miler. At the time I was about 4:40 mid fit I ran 10:16 on a very hot day. Seems about right. Probably could have approached 10 as I ran 4:35 just at the start of my peak.

Back in HS, in the same meet when I ran a 4:38 1500 (would convert to a 4:59 mile), I ended up running a 9:45 3000m later on (which ends up converting just over 10:30). Granted, I felt like I went out way too fast in both races.
I'ld estimate for your average HS runner who is more concerned about speed work over endurance work, I would say roughly between 10:45 and 11:00, but the ideal comparison is 10:30-10:45.
I never ran a 2 mile during track after my freshman year (12:25) but I ran 4:38 for the mile and split 11:08 running my high school 5k PR of 17:12 my senior year. But I was more of an 800 guy and ran 2:01 in hs.
I ran 507 mile and 10 59 2mile at age 40
In high school I ran 5:01-3 for the mile and 10:19 in the 2 mile senior year
I ran a 5:00 mile, my first year of running. I ran the 2 mile in about 10:50, but I did not like the 2 mile run.
4:59 and 10:38, off of 25 miles per week. I have no speed at all, but very good endurance somehow despite the fact that our training program is high intensity and speed, with low mileage.
10:36
Didn't we go over this a few month's ago?
As a freshman, 4:58 mile, 11:02 2-mile, within a week or so from each other . Also ran a 2:20 880 a few weeks prior.
I ran 4:55 and then two days later ran 10:31. I'm more distance oriented though.
13 years old: 5:01, 11:02. I dont know if my training had me equally prepared for both events, so It is possible i under-performed on of those and don't consider those times correlated.
I was exactly 10:40 when I was at 5:00 (1984). From reading this thread, it is amazing how many of you are in this ballpark.
My track coach thought the 10:40 was a lot stronger though.
Um....
4:00 for 1600 then 2 1/2 hours later 8:34 for 3200
Here's a weird one:
I ran a 10:33 2-mile just one week after running a 4:58 mile. While I am much more distance-oriented in general, it still seems like that 2 mile PR is far stronger than the 1 mile PR.
