I'm beginning to think you're either a troll or are suffering from kidney failure because of your over consumption of protein.
Randy Couture was the UFC HW champion at the time. He could fight at LHW as well, but he was a better fighter at the heavier weight, similar to how Dan Henderson was a better fighter at 205 than 185.
Carwin had injury issues, which forced him into retirement and he arguably had the heaviest hands in the HW division.
Mir is a BJJ guy but he has heavy hands, as evident by his recent KO's, with some of his submission victories coming from hurting his opponent on their feet before locking in the submission.
Yes, Lesnar is athletic and huge but he has a legit wrestling pedigree and had killer ground-and-pound. Just being athletic and huge won't take you too far.
And who in the world ever considered Sonnen to be a world beater? He's always had a reputation as someone who could talk his way into a big fight, even though he was a very boring fighter.
I'm really not sure how much you keep up with MMA to be honest. Who has better media charm than Connor McGregor? He has legit kickboxing and knows how to hype a fight. His showdown with Jose Aldo will be one of the most anticipated MMA fights in quite some time.
Old school guys are gone? What about Werdum the top HW in the world, who has the best ground game in the HW division and has drastically improved his Muay Thai. And did you forget about Robbie Lawler, also an old school guy and the WW champ? How can you not be motivated by his career resurgence, latest victory and future showdown with Carlos Condit?
And there's no one more innovative than Jon Jones, who will hopefully comeback soon. And on the women's side, Joanna Jedrzejczyk is really exciting to watch as well. Then you have guys like Donald Cerrone, the dogfight at the top of the 185 lb. class, and a lot of other good things going on.
And Rousey is getting a big push because she excites people. Very few of my friends follow MMA at all, but my Facebook newsfeed was blown up with references to her. What she's doing is exciting to a lot of people.
Interesting comments. Do you think if Rhonda bulked up to maybe 200 pounds, could she contend in the men's light heavyweight and heavyweight classes? At that weight could she destroy any MMA guy under 200 pounds?
