I'm a morning runner too and experienced similar issues, so I feel your abdominal pain. There are solutions to your intestinal issues. First, do not start to think of yourself as a freak or less deserving of proper bowl movements. While lightening your load can be a most enjoyable experience, particularly after digesting a large pasta meal, it can detract from the physical benefits to be gained from a solid run through the early morning. I found that getting up at 5, drinking a cup of water, and engaging in active stretching, including some light core work and abdominal exercises help get things moving. And, once they start moving, the train keeps rolling. Before you know it, your body will be trained and you'll wake up every morning with one poking at the hole and ready for splash city. Now, I'm out the door by 5:30 and light in my loafers, ready to rip the roads. Oh, and don't forget that the most important part of a pre-run deuce is the clean-up. Wipe thoroughly, or you'll end up with a rash.
