Magness Defends Rupp in 2006, SAME THYROID DOCTOR

So the Magness/Goucher story currently is that Dr. Brown is a crank and is "Salazar's pet."

Well, gee, that's strange, considering that in 2006 we have Magness saying, "Rupp went to the same doctor that I go to for my thyroid problem. He's in good hands..."

Dr. Brown was also supposedly Kara Goucher's doctor before she even came into NOP and she was supposedly one who introduced him to the program. (no denial of this from Magness/Goucher camp to my knowledge).

No headshot, non story. Magness didn't claim thyroid meds are universally wrong.

Come back when you find that Magness was arranging to have people without thyroid conditions to get on thyroid meds. Come back when you find something that shows Magness giving thyroid meds to people. Come back when you find something that shows Magness doing testosterone testing on his sons.

I think it's enough that Magness came out claiming that TUEs for thyroid meds were being used a performance advantage that violated the ethic of the sport, when it turns out he has Hashimoto's and says that extra thyroid meds can't improve performance and that athletes need to monitor their thyroid levels closely and may need to supplement above baseline levels.

Kara and Magness are such hypocrites. We'll see who is feeling like carp in a few weeks.

How is Magness hypocritical?

With the recent flooding of thyroid threads hitting the boards, I think the Salazar camp is again using it as a tactic to make others look bad. Deflect, deflect, deflect.

If everyone else is doing it then when cannot be GUILTY! It doesn't fit. You must acquit!

I've shed a lot of internet ink arguing with Magness/Goucher camp about "Salazar's pet," Dr. Brown, as they often word it.

So Magness defending Rupp in 2006 and admitting he had the same doctor that Rupp has begun going to is huge. Magness also defends traveling across the country to see this doctor.

Then there's the whole issue of Kara being a patient of Dr. Brown (was he the one who originally diagnosed her?), her previous use of Cytomel, and supposedly being the one who introduced Dr. Brown to NOP in the first place. Very different from the way she told the story, as if Salazar was sending her off to his shady "pet" who had no real history/relationship with her:

You don't pay attention. This is old news. Magness doesn't need to say it. Read cycling's CIRC report. A bunch of ex-insiders have stated this plainly.

Without a doubt, it's nice to see the story get a wider audience.

Albertos Cytomel argument doesn't hold water. He states it's from August when he ordered a prescription for Kara because her cortisone shot affected her thyroid level. If you paid any attention, you would know Kara claimed Alberto gave her the bottle in MARCH, when she did not have a valid prescription. Alberto argues this by showing an email with a nutritionist where he has obviously blanked out complete sentences on, and we are suppose to believe him? Please. He doesn't even argue that the writing on the pill bottle is his, he just tried to cover up the timeline and didn't think people would notice.

If you still believe every word Alberto says, you are either his family, getting paid, or totally delusional.

Per AlSal's Exhibit #21, the letter written by Dr. Brown a few weeks ago, Kara is not named as the one receiving Cytomel. The name used by Dr. Drown is the generic "an athlete." Why is AlSal's pet Dr. Brown discussing a prescription without a name going along with it? Why does it appear that Dr. Brown never saw any patient at all? It really does appear that Salazar simply sends "his" medical data --likely faked-- to Dr. Brown and orders a prescription, which Dr. Brown happily writes because the pay is good.
