I don't have a dog in this fight but after reading Salazar's reply...man, Steve Magness looks like a piece of shit.
Where were Magness's emails to back up his story? Seems like a sad little punk who got fired and wants to be a bitch about it now.

If you check you will see I spoke out years ago against Josh Hermans as being dirty as they come and he was/is way into Nike's pocket.
LOL ... an unregistered name taking a name from an old post by using the Search function, and reading a few ancient posts, then claiming to be that same person from long ago. Keep on trying PR firm hack. You are here and posting an cannot hide.
"I noted that through her workouts and strength training with them, Kara had been able to match what others had only been able to accomplish through cheating."

Excuse me, but how does he KNOW that "others" are cheating???????
Which "others" - please clarify!!!!!!
PR firm, ha ha and you think Salazar is paranoid and delusional.
And who is *Josh* Hermens anyway??
...Still, you haven't registered your name...
"Mo Farah turns to Freud's to handle fallout from missed test revelations..."
http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2015/jun/18/mo-farah-fresh-questions-missed-drug-tests
... LOL, when PR firm non-LRC regulars try to act smart they fail. They also misspelled Zatopek in the big post.
it doesn't take massive amounts of overtraining, unless all the Citizen runners and triathletes who also have thyroid problems are all overtraining as well
I hope you are joking about Hermans (sorry for the misspelling above). But....just in case you weren't:
John Capriotti: So, for various reasons, like Kenenisa (Bekele) could not make it to Pre due to training, we wanted to find a way to get Bekele here. I spoke to Jos Hermans, his agent
Hermans is/was not only his agent but also his coach. Hermans has been associated with doping all the way back to his competitive days.

Magness, the Gouchers, Epstein, will all have to respond to Salazar's statement. I wouldn't be surprised if like Salazar, they begin to air out dirty laundry in the form of personal communications (texts, personal emails, documented conversations with teammates, etc.).
Magness and the Gouchers aren't of the same caliber as Alberto.
Magness wants to be seen as a science guy, but everything about him is sloppy. His blog was sloppy, his book was sloppy, and his accusations against Alberto were sloppy. He is obviously interested in science but he lacks the thoroughness and the analytical skills that any half decent scientist has in his veins. He will not be able to counter Alberto with decisive arguments. On the other hand, Magness was right about publishing the photo of Rupp's training log. The testosterone/micro dosing question still hangs in the air.
Kara and Adam are nobodies. Kara's tears may bring in sympathy and money, but will never bring anyone down. Adam seems to be the bitter beta male who cannot come to terms with the fact that his wife would always love (her own words) the Alpha Male Alberto.
Epstein is the guy we're waiting for. Has he got more up his sleeves? He better have some good cards to lay down. In particular about the only stuff that matters, which is whether Rupp has been on microdosing testosterone since he was a teenager. If Epstein shows up empty handed, Alberto will cash in a public goodwill Jackpot that's unprecedented in running history.
Rest assured his statement was fully reviewed by a team of lawyers but crafted to be emotional and personal. In terms of technical substance He doesn't offer much "proof" to clear up the allegations he ran a legal doping program. The whole response is CYA'd very well. Pay attention to the terminology, so much is concealed in his words. I thought a much more formal statement would be released but it was quite clever to make it more personal and dramatic. This response will solidify support from his existing fan base but will also create some sympathy with many others. It appears on the surface that this is a Sal vs haters issue but it's Nike responding right now. Keep in mind they have infinite resources and will be able to dig up and spin to their advantage any piece of "evidence" they need to try to clear the air. As for Magness, Kara and others they have no political weight or money to throw at this so they will appear discredited. Only a reputable news company coupled with government investigation can fight this battle. Just keep in mind who ultimately has a stronger voice here.
This kind of nuance is a little rare on this subject. Great post.
I never realized there was a "legal doping program". Maybe you should have informed Lance Armstrong of this program years ago! Maybe then he would still have his 7 TDF titles.
I find it hilarious that the NOP haters keep saying that there is some sort of PR firm spamming the LRC boards to make it look like people are supporting AlSal. Far more likely: the same 2-3 NOP haters are spamming the LRC boards, grasping at straws, and clinging to the irrational hope that people will ignore that really tangible evidence presented by AlSal. Instead of being little sissies, do one of two things:
1. Refute the evidence based on the facts, or
2. Wait til tomorrow when Magness, the Gouchers, and Epstein will inevitably offer some counter-evidence.
+1 come on Rojo you are embarrassing yourself
Rojo, did you read all the emails? Salazar also said on Feb 12 in an email he copied Ian Stewart on "Ian, is there any chance that Dr. Thing could prescribe a Z pack for Galen? It's called Zithromax and is a three day dose pack that works for ten days. It may just be known as Azithromycin in the UK and is taken for ten days. I fedexed some to Galen at the Crown Plaza but it wn't get to him until Monday at the earliest. It may not even get thru customs. I laid the tablets out in magazines and labelled the package as business documents."
In that same email he later mentions Nasonex and says "I didn't send it because it comes in a small bottle and would be detectable by feel in the fedex envelope. Nasonex is one brand, very expensive, $150 but Galen will pay it if Dr. Thing can prescribe it."
A couple of days later on February 14 he tells Ian Stwert "Galen got his antibiotics today from fedex so he's ife on that. I will fedex the nasal corticosteroid to him today..." Later that day he sends Ian Stewart another email that says "I just fedexed off the nasal spray. If it gets thru Customs it will get there on Wednesday at the earliest." An email to Spencer Barden at UK Athletics on February 15 says "Hi Spencer, good news, i just checked with Fedex adn galen's nasal spray prescription cleared customs."
There are two separate email chains that deal with the pills and nasal spray being sent at two different times. I think you are getting confused and combining the two incidents. There is an email where Salazar says on February 12 that he sent tablets hidden in magazines.
I can't see how this incident isn't fully explained. Are we now going to say it wasn't refuted because the article said it was a "paperback thriller" that had the pills but emails Salazar sent at the time actually said the pills were hidden in magazines?[/quote]

Your fellow Scandinavians, the Flying Finns, were blood doping in the '70s. But back then it was legal.
And I might add a colleague of mine who I have worked with in various capacities was the journalist who questioned Lasse Viren at the 72' Olympics. I won't name him however if you search some cycling forums I mentioned him several years ago in relation to him being the only one to question Viren in those press conferences. So I am not a trolling PR shrill for Nike nor Salazar, just a person that wants to see the best clean athletes win.
I'm sorry: you really need to learn how to write without expletives and to get the most elementary of the facts straight. I've never defended Salazar. What I've attempted to do is to show that much of the criticism against him is fraught with difficulty and is the result of shoddy thinking. Do you really think that basing all of one's criticism against Salazar on the basis of something he said sixteen years ago is the result of sound thinking? That's all I was pointing to.But here's one more example of thinking that strains credulity. Much is made of note about the testosterone of one of Rupp's blood work chart. Now, I find it prima facie difficult to believe that Salazar would give a 16 year old boy that substance, a boy who's parents are apparently medical professionals. What would be the reason for doing so? To improve the performance of a young boy? But let's suppose he did. Don't you think that among the people who are leveling charges against him who either coached for him or ran for him, that is, who presumably witnessed a great deal--especially Magness and Goucher--that there would be some claim about further testosterone use? Salazar coached Goucher for what, seven years--how could she not have seen that? Doesn't that puzzle you?
Doping was the unwritten rule in cycling, An accepted business model before Lance touched anything and known by all.
One could say Legal Doping was what a number of Tour De France winners still listed as winners were doing.
And by the way, my gallbladder was removed ten years ago.
