I'm currently a freshman in high school who wants to know his potential in the 5k for sophomore year. This year, I failed to join cross country because I wasn't in the area during tryouts. Still, I managed to join indoor and outdoor track as a distance running, simply because I knew I had some level of endurance and enjoyed running to some extent. There I fell in love. After Joining indoor, I manged to drop my mile to a 5:04, with an exceptional amount of mileage ( although i didn't run at all on the weekends). This outdoor season, where I still do not run consistently on the weekends i've managed to get pr's of 1:59.4:32,10:05 ( in order to by most recent to old). For the last 4 weeks, I've been running every single day, only taking off sundays when told to, in order to ensure that I can reach my full potential. I currently have plans to run at the freshman mile, and run a 4:26. Anyways, I want to know, based on these times, and assuming that I will essentially everyday during the summer, what is my potential for the 5k at the end of the cross country season next year ( or really this year)? I'm currently 6'1 ish and physically developed; however, I think i have a little growing left.
