Kid dropped a 4:18 mile and 22.25 200m in the Maine state class A championship today. (last lap of the 16 was a 60 flat.) Is there a high schooler with a more impressive sprint distance combo this year?

Damn. Haven't seen range like that since Roesler.
Very unusual. I've never seen a similar double with such quality in short sprinting and distance
Rodney Giles, Northern, 1983 Maryland State Championships (5 hours)
1600 4:17.8 (1st)
400 47.8 (1st)
800 1:51.0 (1st)
4 x 800 1:46.7 (1st)
Dale Bateman, Laurel 1971 Prince George’s County Champs
1 mile 4:14.5 (1st)
880 1:56.0 (1st)
Triple jump 42-7.5 (2nd)
maybe the most impressive double of today.a guy, i think Dan Murray, ran like 11.3, low 22's, 48.X open, 1:53 and a 15:3x 5k at a small high school. also a stud long jumper. he ran at Wisconsin and was in the ncaa finals a few times i believei'm guessing he could have run 4:18 and there were probably others in the USA who were better and could have doubled in a more impressive wayhell, i could run under 23 in the 200m, 49 high, 1:55 and 4:22 and i barely made the state champ finals in any event in high school. sorry brah

22.25 & 4:18 ->
200 0:22.25
400 0:50.81
800 1:53.80
1000 2:28.01
1500 3:57.83
1-mile 4:18.0
3000 8:50.36
2-mile 9:34.88
5000 15:51.95
10000 34:50.82
but with that last lap of "60", that mile was more like...~4:14.29
http://timescalculator.appspot.com/optimizer
22.25, 4:14.29 ->
200 0:22.25
400 0:50.43
800 1:52.52
1000 2:26.19
1500 3:54.50
1-mile 4:14.29
3000 8:41.60
2-mile 9:25.26
5000 15:34.78

2nd Schoffield, Kristie 10 Merrimack Valley 4:54.67
only the boys 1600, both 4 x 100s and the slow heat of the girls 400
1 Schoffield, Kristie 10 Merrimack Valley 56.39

It wasn't a double but a triple. He went 1:55 negative splitting to win the 800 in the race immediately before the 200. Then split high 47 I heard on the 4*4. He split 46.8 last year.

21.82 and 1:52.74 basically jogging at new England's going out in 57(maybe high 56). He's in the slow heat at nationals, he or someone needs to take it out hard. This kid can run 1:48 but has never been challenged in his life. Great pick up for penn state.
No I'm not related, just a new englander track fan.
Cliff Conley of Galax, VA, had a legitimate shot at quadrupling at state this year: 1500 1st 4:20,), 800 (1st 1:57), TJ (7th 43-00)( and HJ (5th 6-0)!
His finish in the TJ competition was a disapointment. He was expected by many to win that.
when talented soccer players run track

How do you win states in VA in 1:57 and 4:20 for 1500????
Went 1:52 mid and then 21.8 to win and place 4th in the 800 and 200 at the New England meet. Kid is a serious freakshow.

That was already posted.
Just went 55.57-54.06 for 1:49.63 to win the slow heat at nationals.

1A: Generally schools with fewer than 500 students. Still, that's a great quartet of performances, no matter who you're up against. How many 4:20 16/43 TJ ers are there?
By the way, he won the 8 and 16 easily. I don't know how much faster he could have run, but he could have run faster.

In California, where the qualifying standards are 21.75 and 4:14.24, he would not have made the state championships in either event.

And still no one in California could have pulled that double.
At states he went, in order, 418 ftw, 155 ftw, got roughly 25 min rest and ran 22.25, got the 2 mile as rest and ran a 47.6 4x4 split.
At new England's he ran 152.7 splitting 57.8 , 54.9, got 20-30min tops, ran 21.8, got about 45min with the 2 miles, ran 47.5 in the 4*4
Now he has negative split a 149 and almost certainly gotten all-american status out of the slow heat.
Last year another coach told us after Harris had split a 152 in the 4x8 and won the open in ~153, "if Harris wins the 200, I'm walking home." Isaiah won.
Those poo pooing his range/talent on here are not the first doubters he has had. He will have many more in the next four years at Penn, and I'm sure he will prove them wrong with the same success he has thus far.
Puts his PRs at 21.8/46.8/149/418

A double is not impressive if neither time is of championship calibre. At USC--and probably also at Oregon--neither of those times would even meet the walk-on standard. The guy might be a natural 800 guy. But how fast would his 200 time be if he wasn't messing around with 1600?
By comparison, Michael Norman, as a junior, ran 20.30 and 45.19. Both of those times are world class.

What does Norman's sprint double have to do with Harris' unique double?
