So as the post season in California begins to start up with CIF in the next couple of weeks, I have finished most of my harder training and want to know what you guys think I can run in the two mile by the end of the season. I came off an XC season where I ran 14:39 for 3 miles in September and by November was over trained and exhausted to the point where I ran 16:36 for 5k at the State Championship. I took a good 2-3 weeks off totally and began ramping up my mileage steadily, adding some hill work as my main source of workouts over winter. By February I was doing long runs of about 13 miles and one of my better ones was on a very hilly half marathon course where I ran 6:00 pace with a friend of mine decently comfortably. I started to hit about 55-60 miles a week at that point and at the beginning of March I did a 4x1000m workout on grass averaging 2:54 and an 11 mile long run where I averaged 5:45 pace with the last 5 miles at about 5:27 pace. I got sick then next week and then face planted with 100m to go in one of my races the next week where I could've gone around 9:15-9:20 after doing most of the work. My knee was pretty swollen and bruised so I had to take a week and a half to just bike and recover. Since then my workouts have come back and now they are better than ever. Most recently I have had workouts like "4x800 with first lap at 60, jog 200, last 200 in 29, 6 min walk jog recovery", "2x1000@2:55, 2x6:00 @1:41, 2x400@64-65, 4x200@30 with rest being walk jog half the distance of the previous rep", and "the 12 mile cut down long run starting at 6:45 and cutting down 10 seconds per mile until the last mile is 5:05". My last two races have been solo and I ran a 1:59 800 and a 4:20 mile. What do you think I can hit for the two mile by the end of the season?
