WTF is a burpee?
Is this an actual sport?
Anybody who has to do a "burpee" in their sport cannot be called elite. It's not even a sport.
WTH is going on with this country?

Answer this you fvckers!
Butch.
I figured this much.
Moat was Southern Utah's top guy in cross for a year or two back in the day, I believe. 9:00 steepler. Dude is 'world class' obstacle racer. Would barely make NCAA first round in the steeple.
What's funny is that this whole time I've gotten really good at cleaning or covering up the messes you make. What you've never seen me do is try to create a mess of your life :) I've never really tried before.
You've all taught me a lesson that will stay with me for life - you can Fk someone up without doing anything illegal. This will be fun for me.
Why is your deadlift so bad if you know so much about gaining strength?
The bench press is also a ridiculous exercise to include in a contest like that. It's not a realistic movement to have to complete in real life.
deadlift is awesomea
Not butch.... athletic, and hot. Unlike all the skinny-fat girls on your xc team.

Not sure why the hate for the obstacle races. It's like any road race. 10-20 legit athletes competing and 1000+ that are just there for the selfies and finishing medal.
a former d3 national champion and olympic trials qualifier in the marathon, macharia yuot, in his second obstacle race ever, finished about 40 seconds behind junyong pak, a guy who does these races frequently and who got 3rd place overall at the spartan race world championships..
can't tell me that the elite runners wouldnt be able to clean up in these if they would dedicate themselves to practicing obstacles like they dedicated themselves to their running.
elite runners would clean up.. wrote:

Prizes at world championship this year (for Spartan at least) are legit.
1st place $15,000
2nd place $10,000
3rd place $5,000
4th place $4,000
5th place $3,000
I'm not an elite runner, but if I was, I think training for the obstacles would be well worth my time if I thought I could get top 5. Not to mention the added leverage I'd get with sponsors, showing off their brand to an entirely different community.
Bottom line, I think the sport of OCR has grown enough (or at least is close to that point) where elite runners will start thinking about competing in these races for $$. As I stated earlier, I think the obstacles and skill specificity are enough now that you can't be both a top-level road/track runner and a world-class obstacle racer. The reality is that for OCR, you need muscles that aren't going to maximize your running efficiency. Same reason Lance Armstrong wasn't a 2:10 marathoner. Just my opinion though, and I'm interested in seeing what happens.

Cause its not a race. You have to do burpees.
I'm not trying to be argumentative for the sake of being argumentative, but there are MUCH easier ways to go about earning $3,000 than training year round for an obstacle race.
I don't think elite runners are going to switch their training around for a shot at $3K-$15K as the FVCKING WORLD CHAMPION. They'd be better off spending the extra time getting a job at Fleet Feet.

I am not sure all of those pictures are from Spartan races. I think some are from websites where girls get dirty for fetish reasons, but whatever.
Any of you remember that picture from one of these mud runs where the blonde girl was lowering herself into the water in a sports bra? She was an internet sensation but I think she had all of the pictures removed.
One more note I think is worth mentioning:
OCR right now reminds me a bit of MMA in its early days. It's more of an odd spectacle than a sport to the general public, but as the prize money is increasing, so is the number of athletes training specifically for these races.
Everyone thought MMA would wipe out boxing's popularity, but the opposite ended up happening, as boxing and MMA have brought each other a lot of new fans. I think we'll see the same thing happen with running and OCR - they won't compete with each other, they'll just help more people get into racing in general.
For example, two of the top OCR women, Rose Wetzel and Amelia Boone, are very different types of athletes. Wetzel's 5k PR is 16:14 (http://running.competitor.com/2014/07/obstacle-racing-2/ocr-athlete-profile-rose-wetzel-sinnett_107142) and Boone's is only 18:43 (http://games.crossfit.com/athlete/123757). Yet they are always neck and neck at the front of races. You can't tell me there isn't some mutual appreciation going on there. I think more people will see the dedication it takes to become an elite runner through these obstacle races.
Some of those girls are hot.
They don't mind getting defaced on their face. ... that is very good with me
Here's an interesting read, with a good perspective on the difficulty compared to running.
