My wife picked it up on a whim. Independently published, it is about an Illinois high school xc team in 2005 that failed to make State despite some early season promise. I am no literary expert, but it seems monotonous and repetitive. It is written in the third person and reads like an unedited diary of training and teenage angst. In some chapters the 'b' in O'Brien Park is capitalized and others it is not capped. Two different chapters end with a sentence with no period. Some of the training facts are mildly informative (e.g. mention of Joe Newton's York camp), but overall definitely not worth the money. I have already given it away to a friend. I am curious about other opinions.
