Monopolies are when one company creates insurmountable barriers of entry to a market, not when they're the only group of running nerds who were willing to put up capital for equipment, travel and bargaining deals with meets.
I too am annoyed by the membership thing (I used to frequent it before subs mattered) but so far it seems to be a successful business model so can't really complain, unless you feel they owe you something that they don't.

Weird, my feed is fine but no sound - all other sites sound is fine.
