The 2016 track Trials standards haven't been published. The top athletes are going to be focused on getting qualifiers for 2015 Worlds.
Rupp has his 10000m Worlds qualifier because the 10k window opened earlier than the other track events and included the '14 season. Every other American has to get his/her Worlds qualifier this season (and that goes for Rupp in the 5000).

As predictable sources of message board chatter, I'd say they are equivalent. Although, on that basis, I probably should have mentioned GF in the 1500 as well.

Yeah the men were listed first and there was so much to choose I didn't get any further.
Efraimson (and Hasay) are listed in both 15 and 5, so may make a choice at some point.
Hasay got her 10k Worlds qualifier in 2014. Sisson got her 5k in Feb, leaving her free to choose the 10k for this meet.
Kipyego in the 5 and Saina in the 5 and 10 (for now) are notables.
No Chris Derrick in the 10k? Is he looking at Pre Distance night or is he injured? I'm surprised he isn't going to Stanford for the standard
That's a lot of stud 1500 guys. Will Grant be in heat 2? It would be nice if he could be in a race where he can just tuck in and run 59s, but it would also be ideal for him to be in the back (think Webb in his Pre mile).
If he gets bumped from heat1, he might end up in a 3:40 race with a lot of battling for position which will be less than perfect.
I don't see any way Fisher gets into Section 1 in this field. Even Section 2 could be a stretch, although the meet has shown favoritism for HS stars in the past.
No Derrick on his home track is a surprise. Have to assume he is assured of entry in the 10k at the Pre meet and is focusing on that. Otherwise I'll be really baffled.
From other direction, somewhat surprised that Rupp is on the entry list. Don't think he's been back since that night in 2010 when the "wrong guy" got the AR.
Bobby Curtis is a serious threat to be top American in the 10000m. He had the number two time for in 2014 and was second at USA xc.

The 10000m is going to be the most interesting race for me because (a) there will be suspense over whether guys can hit the 27:45 Worlds qualifier and (b) it will give a preview of how the contenders will stack up for nationals with two spots up for grabs.
Curtis, True, Bumbalough, Mead, Shrader, Estrada can all have legit hopes of making the team going into this race.
Rupp vs Hill/Lomong in the 5000 is the sexy matchup but you pretty much know they will get the qualifiers and, whatever happens, they will be top favorites to make the team (along with Lagat).
The 1500 field is certainly very good but the guys who are the chalk to be the top four for nationals (Centro, Leo, Blankenship, Casey) aren't here.
So the last race of the night figures to have the most intrigue.
Likely Derrick is not entered due to being only 5 weeks out from World XC and 3 weeks out following his winter break which all of BTC Pro members take.
Expect to see Derrick in the Pre 10k. Less likely would be a meet coming up soon in Belgium where Ritz ran a 10k a fews years back.

True, Curtis, Vail, Mead, Bumbi, along with Estrada who's in the 5k, are all candidates for #3. Maybe Jake Riley as well if his recent road successes translate well to the track.
Since the IAAF will now fill out fields for Worlds with best marks from the descending performance lists, and with so few 10k races being run, look for the top finishers to be far faster than the 27:45 standard. Usually the winner is in the 27:30s but 27:20 or faster is very possible.

A plausible perspective but I see one reason to doubt: Derrick is vulnerable at nationals because closing speed isn't his strong point.
In 2013, Ritz took the pace at nationals and made it an honest race, to Derrick's benefit. Ritz wont be there this time and Rupp won't take the lead that's for sure. If there are other contenders with the qualifier, I suspect they will hang around and make Derrick do the work or risk the kick.
The 10k will be a test for True. Coming off the impressive win over Sambu at the Boston 5k, he should be able to get the qualifier and needs to build his confidence to handle a field that does not include Rupp/Derrick.
Guess there will be no need to check the scratches Monday to see if Rupp/Cain were really going to show up. Twitter tells all.
2010 is a sore point for Rupp/Salazar. Wouldn't surprise if Rupp never comes back.
