I was at the meet with this kid and he has run in dual meets before but never a real meet. Also he does train hard but nothing crazy. Also for highschoolers it helps to be matured and this kid was. But he was a man racing kids

It definitely matters, it can take time to learn to compete at a new distance, beyond just physical ability. Unless it's something like mile to 1500, it matters.
Well even in the mile/1500 it matters if you're a relatively new runner (such as 9th grade).
I've watched several guys who were in 5 flat shape go out in 69 for the first lap. They learn pretty quickly not to do that again.

Dual meets are real meets.

What I meant was it wouldn't be too mentally difficult to race a 1500 if you already had experience in the mile. Otherwise racing a new distance can be difficult.

Next Zach Wills??
What ever happened to Zach? I remember talking to him after states junior year and then he went to OSU and then never heard anything about him again.
Still not as fast as Schumacher's kid.
Can't believe none of you have heard of "beginners' luck". This kid may never break 10:00 again.
