I'm a HS frosh and I'm running my first track season, but the times I see our top guys running aren't up to par with what you read about the really good HS runners doing. Our fastest 800m runner has a PR of about 1:57. Fastest miler runs a 4:39, and fastest 3200 is a 10:01 or so. These are all seniors and state qualifiers from last year. We still place consistently at meets and it seems like these times are around the top in our part of the country (northeast Kansas).
I have heard that Kansas as a whole isn't as fast as most other states in cross/track, but how does this stack up against other schools across the country?
