so they're in the 90th percentile. Somewhat unique.

Their great-grandfather was Alan Ndiku.
Ryan Hall no longer has the 3200m record at his high school in Big Bear. Who would have ever thought that neither Ryan Hall nor his National Champ brother Chad would hold the record at their tiny rural public high school?
Caleb Webb ran 8:52.27 last night at Arcadia to eclipse Ryan's 8:55 and Chad's 8:58 marks.

How many have had two go sub-9?
The fact that two in one family have done it is REALLY unique.

I thought it was great that the guy who beat it was named Webb - so great I added in (to Webb) to the title.
For all you "must be born at elevation" fanatics...
Big Bear is at 6700 feet.

Rudy Chapa, Carey Pinkowski, and Tim Keough all ran sub 9:00 on the same high school team in the same year (1975). Never been done before or since. Here is the SI article from 1975.

That has already been mentioned, and it's also not true that they're the only team to accomplish it. It was done again last year, in the same race. As I already said.
That is news to me.
Who are they and what were their two mile times?
Have both the Halls and Webb had the same coach?

He thinks 3200m = 2 miles.

Very impressive to have 3 guys sub 9! And 8:52 is way under 9 already for a school record. Great school list. Not sure if York has had 3 sub 9 guys? Maybe so. Sub 9:15 York or Christian Brothers list would go on and on. I might guess maybe 8-10 schools have 3 under 9:00 all time
University of Portland :D

They went enough under 9:00 for 3200 that they would've all broken 9:00 for 2 miles.

8:51.0, 8:52.3, 8:56.2 from the article. I think Chapa may have ended up faster than 51 by the time he graduated.. he did go something like 28:30 before college after all.

No. The Halls were coached by their dad, who retired in 2008.

Cool, thanks for the info.

Add more than 3.1 seconds for the difference from 2 miles, and only two of then might have bettered 9 for the longer distance.
