The important thing though is that girls who rollerblade are very, very sexy. Bring em back bring em back!

The long beach matathon and the wrstern hemisphere marathon had inline marathons as part of their events.
Prolly the cost of insurance was too high to continue.
Spotted one this morning at the corner of Terramont Drive and Branch Crossing. Full gear. Bike helmet, gloves, knee pads, ipod and for what ever reason, white compression socks. Only thing missing was a tank top.
This is a great video with some pretty ladies skating.

Here is my experience. I bought pair of rollerblades. I was so excited. Went to the park and all was well, though ta little frustrated at being unable to stop easily and frustrated every little pebble made things difficult to rollerblade. Then I went down a hill that I thought wasn't really that big (I knew the park well and it really wasn't), but I just went faster and faster and faster and couldn't stop. The faster I went downhill the harder and more dangerous it was to put out 1 leg to stop. There was a fence at the bottom and instead of wipe out on the pavement (which would have been really bad, really bloody- I had on just shorts and t-shirt, no gloves-even though never rollerblading before I was so confident I didn't plan on wiping out that day) instead I jumped up and crashed into a metal wire fence, grabbing the fence on impact. It hurt pretty bad and I was stunned for awhile, saw stars. Better than falling at that speed. I put my blades away and never used them again.
Gay people turned to triathalons instead.
Again, why not just turn? That's always how I stopped. Like you're on skis. I was actually scared of using the brakes because I wasn't coordinated enough to rock backwards without falling over.
What a wussy.
Pics?
First present my now wife ever bought me was a pair RollerBlades. I think I will have to get them out and "blade" through the neighborhood. Although, last time I did that I almost got bit by a Bichon Frieza. Little f'er actually put a hole in my sock before he got kicked. Will take my sweet Pitbull over those nasty dogs any day.
Ummmmmm, ever heard of Steve Prefontaine?

Brilliant thread - bought some inlines in 1995, probably last used in 2003. Still somewhere in the house. I may dig them out but the big issue was always that I had to go somewhere to be able to use them. It's not like cycling or running where I could go straight from home.
When I was a kid in the 70s, skateboarding was big and then it died. Somehow it came back into fashion and has managed to get itself into the Olympics. Maybe inline will do the same.
